"Tall Cedars" by Eric Osterling

My Junior High School band played this song at our Spring Concert in May of 1969, we still have the reel to reel tape recording of it. My sister was on the French Horn. Our band had a different start to this song, but the rest of the music sounded just like our band. We did have louder cymbal cracks in our performance they really stood out on the recording. Brings back alot of memories of my school years.

this isn’t a beginning band. this is an intermediate band. but they’re six graders. age doesn’t equal experience

I'll admit for a sixth grade band they sound great. Minor notes. Not enough crash (we are doing this song, I'm in crash, there's a lot) they ignored the staccatos and diminuendos. But others wise, great job!

I didn't hear staccato either. They suck for a big band. They need more Short and accented

On the crash boom, needs more cymbals! And more bass drum too truly. Also, on the melody with clarinets, tenor saxophones, and I think alto, they should get softer, the decresendo was barely noticeable and also the march itself isn't too bad. Though I think it needs to be more lively! As my band director says: make it to where people want to smile and tsp their foot to it. (sorry, but I didn't feel like doing either)

Yes, I noticed that too, when our Junior High preformed this song the cymbals stood out loud. We have an old 1969 reel to reel tape recording of our school's band performing this song and a few others.
