I didn’t know that dancing shoes have suede/rubber soles. As a beginner I would go with the flared heels around 6 cm. The padding sounds like a good idea. Question, is it uncomfortable to dance using heel protectors for the shoes?
@ChristinaMcintoshofficial10 күн бұрын
Hey I don’t notice the heel protector when dancing and the protector actually acts like a flared heel almost giving bit more stability , you can get them pretty cheap on Amazon , worth the investment 😊

The guys need learn and practice this Hip movement? Or is it only for lady?
@ChristinaMcintoshofficial11 күн бұрын
Hey, yes guys should work on their hip movement and flexibility as it will improve their flow and leading . However the hip movement will be much less pronounced than that of a woman follower . As a lead focus more on initiating/ signalling the movement by focus on grounding - pushing and getting your energy from the ground and giving the space to the follower to allow her to ginga and style by ensuring your hold is not too tight or stiff . Hope that helps

do you have recommendation for man shoes
@ChristinaMcintoshofficial27 күн бұрын
Hey a lot of the same information and advice in this video applies to men shoes as it does to women . Heel height, material of the sole is important to be able to do the slides in Kizomba , good fit and snug are all things to look out for. Loafers, leather sneakers, or dedicated dance shoes designed for men are great choices.

@@ChristinaMcintoshofficial I will either salsa or swing dance. I was in London last year, but I wanted to do some dancing in Edinburgh. However, it seems most dancers in Edinburgh are going to London or Birmingham...lol. At this point, I think it's going to be Montreal or Phoenix, AZ.

Nice tutorial, can you teach the wave for men(Leaders) in Kizomba please?Thank you
@ChristinaMcintoshofficial5 ай бұрын
I can keep in mind to make a video like that . To lead the wave you initiate the move with your weight transfer to the ground, push to the ground and also with your own body movement use the push to the ground to start the wave with your hip/ lower body you will need to bend your knees a bit . Keep a good solid frame to stabilise the follower . This is the invitation of the movement and the follower can choose to do as big or as little wave as she desire do not force her to move . Hope that helps 👍
@nunofernandes89345 ай бұрын
@@ChristinaMcintoshofficial So in Kizomba only women(follower)do the movement of the wave?well I already see,some men(Leaders)do the movement of the wave too,I don´know maybe I`m wrong and only women(follower)do the movement of wave afther all
@ChristinaMcintoshofficial5 ай бұрын
@@nunofernandes8934 both leader and follower do the wave movement . As lead you need to initiate the movement by also doing the movement so that she can follow you and she may add more decoration as I tired to explain in previous comment .

I have a question, because I'm a bit confused on the topic of kizomba fusion which, at least here in Italy, seems mostly a fusion of kizomba traditional (turns with shuffle steps, basic steps made in a more traditional way than urbankiz) and urbankiz (blocks, touch steps ...). Which is in your opinion the best styling for kizomba fusion regarding weight shifts, grounding to the floor etc.? Maybe in this case do we have to find a middle ground between these two different ways of styling?
@ChristinaMcintoshofficial8 ай бұрын
Unfortunately your question and the answer have a lot of it depends. It depends . Mainly will depend on the type of music you’re dancing to. Is the song more flowy and groovy closer to Kizomba mayb even rnb /afro beat then your styling more likely be in your body movement Ginga more grounding and weight shift and also will depend on the style of which leader is using and what he is fusing Kizomba with. Most people fuse Kizomba with urban kiz but now there is also a lot of fusion of salsa/bachata/brazilian zouk in urban kiz the styling may then lend it self to more arm movement , body rolls and footwork although styling of footwork can also be used in Kizomba but will have a different look and feel than that of urban kiz
@ChristinaMcintoshofficial8 ай бұрын
Also to remember what ever styling you are using it is styling and should not interrupt your ability to follow or disturb the lead . Styling is addition to the dance so you can express also and show your interpretation to the music but your fundamentals need to be solid before adding styling Grounding and weight shift in Kizomba dance is fundamentals you need to know well before you can play around with it in a way that it does not affect negatively the lead or follow technique
@esper96168 ай бұрын
If I understood correctly "I'm actively on the ball of the foot" means there is some pressure on it, while the weight is on the straight leg?
@ChristinaMcintoshofficial8 ай бұрын
Exactly correct that is what happens . Having some weight on the ball of the foot will enable you to execute whatever the next step is more effectively as you are able to push better from the ball of the foot rather than with a flat foot
