It's good that he didn't associate islam with the "evil" he was talking about. Anyone can be evil. If you associate evil with an entire religion, you *are* the evil he's talking about.

After all these years since 9/11, I come back to this video every now and then. I still cry when I think about those people singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic with so many people in the streets that couldn’t get into the cathedral. I hope some bonds never die.

This is beautiful, thank you UK. The very best "Battle Hymn of the Republic" is George H. W. Bush's funeral, if anyone is interested in the song.
@stealmysunshineАй бұрын
Quite appropriately this was also sung at the abbey for Winston Churchill's funeral as well as beung half American himself it was his favourite hymn.

There is the residue of our empire (our, including you in America). It is strange, but the existence and unprecedented event that our empire was and still is, while fully acknowledging the seemingly inevitable disagreeable aspects of empire in general and our empire, whether it's 1910 with a Union flag and the Cross of St.George or 2024 with the Stars and Strips aside the various Commonwealth flags, within it is an expression of a deep desire and capacity for friendship, as we might say, among those who know that which only they know. I think we want to sing your songs most often not for politics or fun but because they feel as if we wrote them. Of course a person can feel a fondness for a song in any language from any culture for any reason that it speaks to them, I listen to many songs I can hardly speak a word of, and most cultures probably do have songs that speak to something in most people, but few have such a wide domain with such independence and yet near perfect and constant peace between them and not only that but allegiance too. I think a mark of this is how many songs that are considered old and traditional to one country or another, that we each argue over who actually wrote it first or who it truly means most to. Beside our larger disagreements, I feels as though those insignificant disagreements show the reality of a great friendship that desperately wants to endure and grow, or else surely we wouldn't really care about such things.

It appears Americans are becoming more aware of MANY, MANY great actions, supportive actions, respectful actions the UK has done for & on behalf of the USA & its citizens under King George VI & Queen Elizabeth II. It is very nice to see this happening. 🙏💙

He mentioned 'other great faiths'. I am struggling to think of another faith that accepts Jesus Christ as its leader, the risen son of God, who walked and taught on earth, died for our sins, and now sits at God's Right Hand, ready to help destroy God's enemies. What a great servant of Satan the churches are, this CEO nonce is truly hated by God.

That is the Battle Hymn of our Nation the United States. What's different now than the summer of 1940 when Britain stood alone. We never allow Britain to stand alone again, and we shouldn't have in 1940.

I wonder if this song is referred to as “Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory” in the UK instead of “Battle Hymn Of The Republic” like it is in the US because the UK is a monarchy and referencing a republic in a song like this could be interpreted as anti-monarchy
@reluctantheist52242 ай бұрын
In my experience you are right, it is generally called Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory. Nobody worries about the rest of the stuff you thought might worry the Brits though. In fact , at the changing of the guard ceremony outside Buckingham Palace Her late Majesty, the Queen had the American Anthem played , and we all now what had happened just before the Dawn's Early Light.

Thank you for sharing! As an American I truly appreciate that my ancestors, some if not most, came from the UK. It means so much to me to know that my cousins are thinking of us. In 2001 when we were attack it was felt by everyone, everywhere. And to hear this song means so much to me, especially in 2024, when our country is being torn apart by our own citizens. I can only hope you will still be there for the emotional support we need. I look to England for comfort, as a child does to a parent. Have a wonderful day!
