You create gods by writing fictions. You play the role of god by analyzing of these fictions. You create religions by telling others about your analysis. Before the alphabet was available, priests were required to keep the stories alive. We exist at a time when we are ruled by literature, after the alphabet.

Preach it Sista!❤ I'm a Anti Dogma Follower of Good Jesus, etc ADFOGJE Here's my overarching "Biblical" advice to all religious endeavors- Rom 12:9 Adhor that which is Evil, clever to that which is Good. The challenge is using your Brain and Heart to determine what is Good and Evil to YOU!

The problem with this video is that while people who claim to be "prophets" who can occasionally see into the future need to be taken with a Huge pinch of salt. .there are however hundreds of documented cases of ordinary people having dreams of the future that later came true - premonition dreams. For example the guy who had recurring dreams of the plane crash that happened in Chicago in 1979. Very hard to debunk that seeing that a Federal aviation official confirmed that the guy phoned him the day before the crash to tell him about the recurring dreams. Good luck with debunking that one😂.

It's true what they say, that there is no objectively valid reason to be convinced that God or gods exist.

What a shitty and pathetically codependent way of thinking. This is not a video about of god is dead, it's about how tough life is entry you're no longer in a cult.

Christianity is a very traumatizing worldview and view of self. I've had religious trauma for 12 years and it's a hard belief system to shake.

Where does consciousness come from and the subconscious? Science does not have a good explanation to where consciousness comes from?

Thank you so much for making this video. I always saw problems with the logic in Romans chapter 3 where these atonement theories largely come from, but I could never put in into words like you did. Question though: penal substitution sounds very similar to the Satisfaction theory. What makes them different?

Britt, can we look to how Europeans adapted to more secular societies for guidance? Growing up (especially in evangelical churches), I always heard so much about atheism taking hold in various parts of Europe post WWII. And it's my understanding that most Europeans are still fairly removed from religion, so how did THEY adapt?

I attended a religious school, and I think it was around the tender age of 11 or so, I saw a Hollywood film depiction of the story of Moses, and I remember being quite moved by a scene in which they depicted a man being pelted to death with rocks for gathering wood on Saturday, and that might have been the first moment I felt doubt about my "faith". It was around the same time that I experienced George Carlin's "Religion is Bullshit" discourse in which he highlighted the absurdity of a "loving" god torturing people forever. I've known that empathy and compassion and truth-seeking have been core values of mine for a very long time, and perhaps my anti-authoritarianism springs from my early experiences as a neurodivergent child bewildered by the neurotypical adults in "authority" positions who criticized and punished me. Fuck those people 🙂 Also, I've been reading *Wild Mercy* that you've extensively quoted and I've been thrilled with the variety of perspectives that it has exposed me to, so thanks for this recommendation!

I fear an entire society of nihilism and moral relativism that Nietzsche and Dostoyevsky predicted. I don’t fear an individual ethical atheist living within a Christian society

Religion is probably one of the hardest things to shake. You will lose so many relationships and so many social bonds tether you to faith without you even knowing it. It is like kicking an addiction.

Hoshea Son of Nun > Yehoshu'a (Jesus) Son of Nun Try reading the House of Israel's "Story of Joshua" side-by-side the House of Judah's "Book of Joshua". It's like seeing the true and false messiah side-by-side.

If religious people are happy and at peace being religious, I don't understand why they'd want to click on a video like this, let alone comment on it. They can just continue enjoying their religious activities. 🤷🏼‍♀️

seems like you're still having a very hard time coping with losing your religion. I'm lucky in that although I was willing to die for a Christian faith for 40 years I didn't really know what was in the Bible and we very rarely went to church So once I did start attending church regularly when I was about 37 or 38 I found out what was actually in it and that led to lots of moral questions about the Old Testament God.. that the pastors at my church and a few other pastors in town I met with couldn't answer, so I told my church I was gonna take a hiatus and do some studying myself And within six months the floor already fell out from underneath me and I was 100% an atheist, there's no going back because I can't change reality to make those god's real I had no desire to be an atheist never even knew it possible yet here I am. Hell I even made and kept a seven year celibacy covenant with God after I had a child out of wedlock thinking about generational punishment and how God could hurt my kid for it) Luckily I've never been much of an emotional person so switching from Christianity to atheism was like flipping a switch, had to rethink a few things "social issues"but that's about it (I was actually relieved in that obviously this God isn't gonna ever punish my kid for my sins because the God doesn't exist. So it was easy Peezy for me to walk away

Stoicism is masculinity. Expecting it to appeal to women, especially feminine women is like giving a sheep a steak to eat. Not gonna happen. Stoicism doesnt need women and women, by and large, dont need stoicism.

I grew up on a farm, and until I entered school in the first grade, I didn't know people lied. I was really upset, and my mother had to sit me down and explain this. I have told people about this at times in my life, and most of them did not believe me. I was not taught that Santa, the Easter Bunny and Halloween Ghost were real.

I finally admitted to myself that my father was nihilistically depressed. Severely. He was also my best friend. He died of a heart attack 3 years ago after neglecting himself to death. I miss him. I've also dealt with depression and PTSD for most of my life. Now that I'm a grandmother, I'm taking serious steps to save my own daughter from the pain I've felt. So far, she has not had any depressive episodes. I hope I've helped break the cycle that I was born into. I wish my dad had tried mushrooms or any alternative therapy.
