Going too fast, doesn't allow for the emphasis on phrases that make this concerto so great. The Sayaka version has got it right.

Bonne chance.

You definetely may play a piece at a god damn slow tempo. Only if you won't make music fall apart.

Thanks for this. Argerich's discography indicates that this concerto has been recorded on October 28th, 1983.
Ай бұрын
I have just checked this again. As you can hear at the end of the recording, the radio announcer explicitly said: ‘That was a recording from the Kurhaus in Baden-Baden from 1988.' That's the only source I have. By the way: What you are apparently referring to, is not Argerich's official discography but a private Japanese website with quite some typos and inaccuracies. Which date is correct now would first have to be verified.

Yes, you're right. I will suggest a modification in the discography

Yes, 1972. It was during the time when Zdeněk Mácal was principal conductor of the WDR Symphony Orchestra (1970-1974).

Very impressive indeed. Last year she played the 2nd Chopin concerto with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Hans Graf and the year before Mozart's D minor concerto (K. 466). Hope to hear and see Seika perform in concert halls around the world soon. By the way, the editor of this video deserves a nomination for the best film editing of a piano-competition live video.

The orchestra's not so great, but Markov's playing is superb. The Wieniawski First concerto is extremely difficult. Markov won the second prize and a gold medal. First prize went to Jaime Laredo.

why the 1st part finish in f-sharp MINOR? perlman and others end this part in f-sharp MAJOR...
@lehrmandavid1013 күн бұрын
I am sort of curious about your comment. I've played the piece for decades. Except for a note or two she plays the exact finale as written. Perlman, Rabin, and every artist mentioned here all play what she is playing. It's certainly not in 6 sharps as F# major would be. What am I missing?
