The uztads and imams are hypocrites who use Islam to intimidate Malays and others from voicing their opinions. They claim to have the authority which is to silence dissent. This is very dangerous because clearly these so called scholars of Islam are spreading hatred and not compassion and tolerance toward others.

I have to compliment Hadith and Prof for a very open discussion. Unfortunately they left out a very important question… where in the constitution that say Malays must be Muslims. Non Muslims have the freedom of religion but Malays don’t have this freedom of worship?? Also there are many Malays that have left Islam and they are living in fear. There should be some protection and an avenue for these “apostates” can seek redress. Only with this freedom of worship can there be true democracy and harmony amongst all Malaysian.

Malaysia remains secular nation. Religion is about guidance which isn’t mandatory. The rule of law, the basis of the Constitution, is about governance. The Constitution, Parliament and the court of law - colour blind institutions - can’t get into anything but the rule of law. Islam was based on the concept of sin. It isn’t law. Syariah isn’t law. It’s based on person’s willingness for accepting it. It would be unconstitutional if syariah was imposed on anyone. In jurisprudence, God isn’t source in law. Law must have source for jurisdiction, authority and power. Law exists, and has always existed, based on common sense, universal values, and the principles of natural justice. Democracy isn’t about sleeping between elections. Democracy only works if people participate. The people, between elections, must form movements on issues and descend on the streets if government closes the door for dialogue and/or the court denies hearing. The aim of all movements is the same viz. help lock up as many politicians as possible and thereby keep the people from harm. All politics are about restructuring the distribution of power and restructuring the distribution of resources. The focus of government should be on enlarging the consumer economy for eradicating poverty. Forty per cent of the people in the money economy and the people outside the money economy are living below the poverty line. The people, being focussed on movements, should avoid political parties, party politics, and membership in political parties, like the plague. Political personality cults are new forms of tribalism and feudalism under the guise of democracy as euphemism. Article 4 and the Conference of Rulers keep affirmative action programmes rendered redundant by the expiry of the 15 year sunset clause in 1972. India has cautioned Malaysia that the latter has no place in BRICS if institutionalised discrimination continues under Article 4 and the Conference of Rulers.

Prof. Of course we should be a responsible human, search for teachers, to seek knowledge. All the ustazs you mentioned, taught based on their knowledge. In Islam, you can have 1,000 teachers. Nobody stopping us. But do not be lazy. Keep on learning "sehingga ke liang kubur". Just, do not bad mouthing your teachers. The best person amongst us, are those that teaching others, especially al-quran. Stays humble. If we think we are clever, there will be other, cleverer or learned than us.
