Could have been a pretty good video if it wasn't for all of the stupid ass music

my 77/22 is very accurate and it has been since day one. It was the first one in Florida I ordered it the day they were announced. It is a great rifle. I've compared the accuracy against my tricked out 10/22 and it is just as accurate.

I have 2 77/22's My first had a very solid bolt lock up not too tight but firm and is still the most accurate .22 I own including Anschutz and CZ 452's. The second one had a sloppy bolt and was not nearly as accurate as the first so I installed these bolt shims to get the same bolt tightness and this really made a difference. Well worth the investment and easy to install.

I have seen a couple shim installations on the Ruger 77/22 now .. What were your group size before the shims were installed with the same ammo ? I'm sure you no doubt tested to find out .. After searching for several years now i finally found a Ruger 77/22 with the walnut stock , blued action and barrel and no iron sights which is what i wanted .. I have not installed the shims in my bolt but am not thinking about doing that .. thanks great video ..

I really feel the Ruger 77/22 is one of the better bolt .22 rifles out there out of all the rifle i have seen and fired .. I finally found one 5 years ago which was what i wanted , walnut stock, blued barrel and action and no iron sights .. It is a shooter as far as accuracy goes , only a couple brands did not group so well .. Federal Auto Match was one of the more accurate rounds ..

Do o feel this can be as accurate as Ruger precision. Also what do you think of the 6 mm Creedmoor. Thank you
@Geezer-wj2pf
@Geezer-wj2pf 5 жыл бұрын
From what I've seen pertaining to the Ruger precision I don't think this model savage will compete. At least in the stock that it comes in. I like the caliber. Lower recoil being a non magnum caliber, etcetera. Price was were I was looking to spend. I bought this specifically to shoot ground hog shoots. I put a Cabelas covenant scope on it. Out shoots well.

These taking stuff out the box videos make me bored. Give me some info, opinions or etc to enable me to make a possible purchase decision. Some PRO/Con perspective would be nice, stumbling upon this type stuff waste minutes of my life I’ll never get back.

Jim Meyer right now I have a Cabelas Covenant 6 to 24x50 with high rings. The one I mounted initially was a Leupold 4 to 10x44. The Covenant is a low end first focal plane.

I got a 77/22 for Christmas from my bosses in 2014. All weather Varmint with the laminate stock and in the box it came with the scope rings and a Volquartsen sear. I ordered the extended mag release for this gun. I found Trigger shims .com on my scouring of the web...something I do when I get a new gun and look for tune up parts....and ordered the bolt shims and the trigger shims. The gun is awesome....with the trigger shims and the sear, I get a consistent 1 3/4 lb pull. The shims make the break even and clean. Before the trigger shims, the trigger would rock side to side...and that is not good for consistent sear engagement. The bolt shims tightened up the bolt a lot. Maybe a hair too tight, but it has broken in since the first installation. I get a little less than half inch at 50 yds with CCI Standard. I wanted a CZ for years...happy with this Ruger! There is also a Timney sear kit available at Brownells. Seems the Volquartsen sear is not made anymore but 10/22 RAceguns has it listed.

Nevada Sage I haven't because I'm using it to shoot factory class groundhog shoots. The modular comb isn't that great. The lowest and next step up are the only Combs that will allow my one piece cleaning rod into the chamber. I did bed the stock around the barrel lug.
@user-mt4vo4ey5n
@user-mt4vo4ey5n 6 жыл бұрын
Why did you not bed the action? I have a Savage in 6.5 CM as well. Accustock, nothing done to it yet. Going to keep the stock, just gonna bed the action and lug is all. Yours would look good with a Lantac Dragon or VG6 Epsilon on it.
@Geezer-wj2pf
@Geezer-wj2pf 6 жыл бұрын
Nevada Sage I can't change the stock and compete in the same factory class. Don't need to bed the entire action, just around the barrel lug. I did put a copper shim in the trigger mechanism to prevent a little side play on the trigger.

Good stuff from Savage. They accidentally shipped mine with a zero moa base. I called them and they’re sending me the correct 20 Moa base. Oops. Mine is shooting .45” groups at 100 yards. 143 gr ELD-X Hornady brass, Winchester WLR primer, 42.5 grns of H414 sitting .030” off the lands. Getting 2775 fps.

Any problems with the magazine?
@Geezer-wj2pf
@Geezer-wj2pf 6 жыл бұрын
John Harlock no. It has to be put in on a little forward tilt to get the back up then push the front up til it clicks. Haven't had any trouble feeding. In fact I have fed empty cases from it. Also, you can push the rounds in from the top. You don't have to push them in from the from and slide them back.

Joe N it does not use the AI magazines. You would have to get different bottom metal that would accept those magazines. Pacific Tool and Gauge may have bottom metal that would convert it to use those magazines.

@Jihadi Justine Turdeau The rifle in this video was still using the 4-shot Savage magazine that Savage put a plastic box onto to make it a 10-shot. It is a holdover from the discontinued Savage 10 FCP-SR model. You're correct in that the latest 110 Tacticals do use the superior AICS magazines, although overpriced for what they are.

Brian VanDerVelde I have a pre-accutrigger model 10fp that had the "Tupperware" stock. This stock is much better. Appears to be a hard plastic with aluminum rail molded in. I will probably bed it around the barrel lug because it doesn't look like there is much support there.
