I really feel the Ruger 77/22 is one of the better bolt .22 rifles out there out of all the rifle i have seen and fired .. I finally found one 5 years ago which was what i wanted , walnut stock, blued barrel and action and no iron sights .. It is a shooter as far as accuracy goes , only a couple brands did not group so well .. Federal Auto Match was one of the more accurate rounds ..

I got a 77/22 for Christmas from my bosses in 2014. All weather Varmint with the laminate stock and in the box it came with the scope rings and a Volquartsen sear. I ordered the extended mag release for this gun. I found Trigger shims .com on my scouring of the web...something I do when I get a new gun and look for tune up parts....and ordered the bolt shims and the trigger shims. The gun is awesome....with the trigger shims and the sear, I get a consistent 1 3/4 lb pull. The shims make the break even and clean. Before the trigger shims, the trigger would rock side to side...and that is not good for consistent sear engagement. The bolt shims tightened up the bolt a lot. Maybe a hair too tight, but it has broken in since the first installation. I get a little less than half inch at 50 yds with CCI Standard. I wanted a CZ for years...happy with this Ruger! There is also a Timney sear kit available at Brownells. Seems the Volquartsen sear is not made anymore but 10/22 RAceguns has it listed.

I have 2 77/22's My first had a very solid bolt lock up not too tight but firm and is still the most accurate .22 I own including Anschutz and CZ 452's. The second one had a sloppy bolt and was not nearly as accurate as the first so I installed these bolt shims to get the same bolt tightness and this really made a difference. Well worth the investment and easy to install.

my 77/22 is very accurate and it has been since day one. It was the first one in Florida I ordered it the day they were announced. It is a great rifle. I've compared the accuracy against my tricked out 10/22 and it is just as accurate.

I have seen a couple shim installations on the Ruger 77/22 now .. What were your group size before the shims were installed with the same ammo ? I'm sure you no doubt tested to find out .. After searching for several years now i finally found a Ruger 77/22 with the walnut stock , blued action and barrel and no iron sights which is what i wanted .. I have not installed the shims in my bolt but am not thinking about doing that .. thanks great video ..
