I was finally baptised Orthodox recently after a deep desire to be for 10 years. I chose Saint Anthony the Great for my namesake and his life has already been a great guide and anchor for me. I’ve been learning all I can about him.

@BillyB493Ай бұрын
@@CreativeOrthodox Hey thanks for the reply man! I praise God this was an encouragement. My main thoughts are that I'm impressed at how many different visual techniques you were able to include to keep the story so engaging. I've been reading a lot of academic writing on some of the earliest voices in the church so something visually appealing like this is a much appreciated break from that! As far as my main takeaways informationally, I really liked the work harmonizing the Antony presented in Athanasius' biography alongside the version in Antony's own writings. I've read "The Life of Saint Antony" but this makes me want to look more into his own writings! I'm personally not into the veneration of icons but I certainly appreciate your study of the art surrounding this figure. I'm excited to look into some of the other content you've produced!

@@BillyB493I was raised a protestant since I was born, dad was a pastor. After 7 years of having lost my faith completely, 3 years of addiction, at 21 I'm finding, no, TAKING my faith back thru Orthodoxy, or the Orthodox doctrine better put. Assuming you sir have been a Protestant for many more years, having much more spiritual understanding and experience, can you see any value in Asceticism? My parents always taught me that Asceticism is just wrong, or not necessarily wrong, but the subtle and sometimes not so subtle implication was that it was borderline mental illness! Monks were looked upon as... delusional even, it hurts my heart even just typing this, but we looked down on them, I looked down, I DID IT too. Although that was all before the age of 14, by 14/15 I was pretty much an atheist. In a way, the idea, the embracing of Asceticism (in my own TINY way, in my challenge-less life), or better put the embracing of making the HARD choices, was what helped me go cold turkey from weed just 22 days ago, after 3 years of smoking it 3-4 times a day (had to before eating). The pre-rolls are still in my bottom drawer of the desk behind all the clutter and binders, the Sti*izy (f*ck that devilish company) is still in my backpack! Oh but I know, I KNOW this is the Hand of God that's helping me say NO to them (the thoughts (temptations) of the de*il) several times throughout the day. Praise to the only true Triune God!

It sounds like the fruit of the recreated spirit per Galatians 5:22. Putting off the old man or the flesh and putting on the new man created after the image of Christ or the New Creation. Sounds like the Greatness of Antony is Christ.

Do orthodox monks at rassaphore receive a wooden cross?
@skibidi.GАй бұрын
Can't say for sure, usually wooden crosses are carved by monks. If the wooden cross begins smelling of perfume during prayer, the carver was holy. If the wooden cross sticks on a man or woman during exorcism rites then the battle is real and a demon is about to get battled for ownership of said human. 💀
