@6:00 : I lived in Fairdale , Kentucky , which was a small town outside of Louisville , Kentucky and " THE NOTRE DAME VICTORY MARCH" was my high school 's ( Fairdale High School ) theme song ! 😀

I have fond memories of my first days in high school when listening to this song. They were rather mundane, but hearing this song at the time really contributed to a fresh and mellow atmosphere.

Any ideas of what year this roll was created? Not 1913, as Max Kortlander hadn't started his career yet, I don't think. Whenever it was made, it is fantastic to have Kortlander's interpretations of classic ragtime.

I love it! I restored player pianos for over 33 yrears,from 1980 till.(know retired) and many a night with friends and customers ,half drunk, did we play and sing this catchy tune.

This tune has been used in doing an eastern style of square dance. The caller of the square dance I remember best was Duke Miller, a phys ed teacher from New York state, who summered in the Monadnock Region of NH. He called at many summer camps and also at various venues on the week-ends. Great guy!!! NH

We had pianola that my grandad gave us since he couldn’t fit it in his front room. He got it from somebody who owed him money I think. We used to play/abuse it for years, a lot of fun. I even took piano lessons for awhile. We moved house quite a bit as a result of my dads job and every time I think he had to give the movers extra money since the thing weighed a ton. After about 4 moves he broke it up and burnt it in the backyard! What a waste.

I hear you. Thanks for the story. I have moved this myself about 4 times, but it's not going any further under my power. The piano is still remarkably nimble since it's rebuild but hope to find it a new home soon. Thanks for the view. I still have some vids in the can, but haven't created anything new in quite a while do to health.

I know what I'll do when there Ain't No Jazz (as it's defined today) -- keep listening to ragtime, from Joplin to Brier until my ears fall off ..., and dancing to ragtime, when and where possible, until my feet trip over my ears. Ragtime is one of the few unalloyed pleasures left in the world. Your contribution it is much appreciated.

The only song my maternal grandmother, loving called Maunch, from New Orleans, could play on piano! She played only the chorus, and only sang, twice: It takes a long, tall, brown skin gal to make the preacher lay down his good book!

2 questions that I now have after watching these videos 1 What camera do you use? I like the old VHS look the video has 2 How do you record audio for your videos? The main things I would like to know are the type of mics you use, and how you route the audio into the video. Keep up the amazing work!

@Pianosyncrazy

Not a genius for sure... just blessed with a decent set of mics and a small 4 channel mixer. This was done 11 years ago with then 'state of the art' equipment. Audio was recorded separately with good quality 'condenser' mics and a excellent TASCAM 'A to D' CD recorder. Most of the audio equipment on the left was for playback.
