To compare Carton's actions as a random act of of kindness is weak. What Carton did was far greater than a random act of kindness.

Agreed, and thank you. But Hawthorne is not Hester; rather, Hester is not some female version of Hawthorne. Like many of his characters, she is the smartest and bravest character in the story.

1:19 this analysis of turn of the screw falsely States that one interpretation of the story views the governess as possibly the only sane person person in the house this is incorrect and absurd . there are a number of people in the house and nothing challenges the sanity of the housekeeper. several of the other people in the house are mentioned only peripherally there's no possibility of anything that indicates that any of them might not be fully sane . well there is a possible ambiguous that the governoress who is the main character may be repressed , it is not true that she conceals her feelings entirely from herself . she is very aware and discusses with the readers her feelings for the absentee Master of the House and for the young miles 1:19 that the house

Many people keep things bottled up without going crazy.

Yes, but it's terrible for your mental health and you have a GREAT chance of ending up depressed. I know from experience. I didn't realize I had been depressed (FOR 2 YEARS! I was depressed but just seemed tired most of the time. High-functioning depression.) until I did speak the things I kept bottled up and my mental health was 10 times better. So no, you won't go crazy, but it will make your mental health worse. And if you have a disorder it could make it worse as well (So for example if the governess had schizophrenia, being under so much stress of having to keep her feelings buried made her schizophrenia worse.)

If one wants to stick with Old English pronunciation, one shouldn't be saying Geats that way. Before a front vowel, it should be done like a "y" sound. Now, I'm aware that the area of Sweden they're traditionally located is Gotaland, but listen to how to pronounce it in Swedish. That is much closer to the Old English. Surprisingly, most of the names were close enough, including Wiglaf, which I though she might pronounce in modern English., but got the y sound that time. He wasn't technically a Geat, though; he was a Waegmunding.
