I am on the edge about this course as I watched a video workshop they did and loved the process , in the video it had said a different price to what it is now 😢 £250 a month not including materials & I’m a single mum with health issue on benefits. But I love art & feel it would be so beneficial.

Hi Cindy, Thanks for your message xxx yes the price has gone up recently it's such a shame. And the materials are expensive too. I'd say that if you can't possibly afford it right now then shelve it, there are so many free art videos on KZbin you can search for instead, just pick an area you like the look of and follow those instead. It's not worth stressing about money when there are free options around. I'm sending you massive hugs xxx

How do you sign your sign so cool? Pen or brush?
@gabriellevickeryart
@gabriellevickeryart 2 ай бұрын
Thank you! I used a 'Rigger' brush because it's very long and thin. I painted the signature on bit by bit, not all at once, and I thinned the paint down slightly to make it move more smoothly. I also practiced on a spare bit of canvas before popping it onto my finished artwork. I hope that's helpful!

Beautiful work. I'm really interested in joining Milan. I just started another year long course with another art company. I don't think it's fair to say which one, here, but I think people will guess. It's a foundation course, a classical course which I feel will give me the confidence (I feel I need) at the end of the year to sign up with Milan. Did you decide to pay extra for a mentor? I'm wondering if I should, or if I should just purchase the basic course :)

Yes I know what you mean, it is a whole of money! 🫤 I sweat every time payment day rolls around. I guess for me personally, it boils down to: am I deserving of that investment ? I.e. should I spend that money on my personal development in life, (because life is too short not to push for your passion if you have one)...or should I put it elsewhere. And then, can I pay it without it breaking me financially? So although it does make things very tight at the end of each month, for now at least I believe those two things to be true. X I hope that makes sense!

The small hard sticks looked like conte. I can offer a tip on lighting. If you have big box or a top shelf over your still life, you can isolate more dramatic light without having your lights off. @@sharynmellors3624 Hi! I'm glad you are enjoying the course that's fantastic :-)). I am still in Part 1 because I have discovered that I LOVE painting like the Old Masters SOO much that I can't move on yet. I've painted a series all in the same theme now, and am getting them ready for local exhibitions. Sadly the cost of the course is too high for me at the moment due to my work situation, so I've paused my subscription until I can find more work. Having said that, this is only a temporary problem, the course is too important to leave altogether so I'm putting all my energy into generating enough of a wage again so I can recommence. In the meantime I'm going to contine painting in this new style as I've been asked to do a massive version to be put up in a new car park in my town lol! So although I'm sad that I'm not in the course, I wasn't getting through it anyway, so a pause is ok for now whilst I stew in the techniques of the Old Masters and baste there for a while :-). xx

I may be alla prima or maybe oils on acrylics type person. Of course that may be because It has been taking well over a week to get each layer dry. I like them, was actually going to register for the program, to learn a technique and become a better painter. I do not buy , however, the golden mountains they promise ( you mentioned, no guarantee, they do not). If the owners selling a lot of paintings, does not mean you will, if some successful graduates selling for thousand dollars, does not mean you will. Selling or not (regardless of how good you are) depends on so many nuances and " ifs"....not sure people( reading some comments on the internet) realistically understand this part. If I sound like negative Karen, let it be. I do sell my paintings, btw, not a lot, but consistently. I know how much efforts go into this. ....just working hard is not enough.
@gabriellevickeryart
@gabriellevickeryart 6 ай бұрын
I agree with you totally. Just because they have been successful does not mean that their students will be. Personally I am not treating this course as the holy grail to becoming a full time artist, I cannot commit to the hours necessary even if it WAS possible! I'm treating this as a master BOOSTER to my art skills, I am levelling up massively by following the course. I am really looking forward to the 'Finding your Voice' part of the course and I just don't feel I would find it as fast without it. So those are the reasons I'm currently finding the course so valuable. If it helps me to become a full time successful painter, then that's the cherry on the top! :-)
