it was the epoxy… when it gets old it will be able to transfer electricity instead of isolating… it starts when getting hot… you van see it at the color being dark brown… if you only removed the epoxy you had same result. mine wavestation ex had same problem

Funnily enough, I do still have the old capacitors with the epoxy stuck to them. I just measured across the epoxy, turns out it is slightly conductive. Although it's in the range of megaohms. In my case the epoxy wasn't actually in contact with anything conductive though, so I doubt this would've fixed my particular issue. Though I can see how it would cause problems if it was on other parts of the board. Good to know for future repairs either way.

Any Japanese players who actually did this that can give us any details on the fight? What Pokemon he uses, what level, if there’s other trainers like this around the map, and what (if anything) actually made them special or any different than any other NPC? Aside from being accessible only via e-reader, obviously

Actually, it's more ergonomic. This is because the controls for most applications are at the top already. This means less mouse movement, which translates to less wrist bending, which results in reduced risk of carpal tunnel syndrome. Just a little fun fact.

This is _fascinating._ I remember this blocked staircase very clearly. There's so many cases like that throughout the history of Pokemon! It's incredible that you went so far as to load the data of the game to see what the human eye cannot. The fact that you thought of testing all versions is praiseworthy too! I know I would have stopped at finding the guy upstairs.

That room is supposed to be accessible via an e-reader card. The ??? on the hiker is just missing info that the card is supposed to fill. This was a japan only event that never made it overseas

I remember having these cards and the reader as a kid. The cards would have some info hidden on the trainers so it was half a surprise of what you would get/see. I’m pretty sure it gave you access to a few rare berries on some cards or e-reader specific berries. Got the collection at my parents place somewhere..

The Old Man was a retired member of Team Aqua. The Hiker enclosed was an Omen. Once you beat him then talk to the Old Man Blocks the Staircase. Go to talk to the President Of Devon Corporation. Youll see two investigators pop up outside the building. They say we have new information. Now Go back to where the old man blocks the staircase youll see the 2 investigators standing behind him outside of the building. Go back to the staircase and you will be surprised at what happens a loud water draining sound. And when you exit Soototopolis all the water has dried up. Walk to the waterfall under victory road there is an open cave go into the cave its like literally 400 flights of stairs once you reach the bottom you will unlock the biggest secret in pokemon and i wont ruin it but i will say this. That hiker that the old man was hiding is down there and he will say "i have ran this far and i will not stop" turns out he was a fugitive. You figure out the rest its in japanese so good luck translating. To this day ive benefit from what i found down there.

Finally, ever since I discovered this hidden entrance in Pokémon Emerald over a decade ago I always asked myself what they wanted to hide. First I thought it was only accessible after the Elite Four and defeating the Champion, well, when that didn't happen I was disappointed. Then I went to the Hoenn Battle Frontier and forgot about it for a while, because the Battle Factory was epic and I spent like most of the time there because I could temporarily own Pokémon I wasn't able to catch. Thank you for solving it! :3

I swear RSE games have so much stuff that are way too complicated for the common kid to discover without internet and with most of them being pointless or not very rewarding too like 😭 from the regi trio puzzles, mirage island, this, and even the very obscure items for the secret bases that most fans don't even know about One of the reasons why these games are the goat

There is a video of it explaining for what it was when the game was released it was called fact you did not know about hoenn it was for a aditional game and in there where trainers with odd teams you normaly would not see ill look for it and put the full name in the replies
