Can I put gliceryn instead of sodium lactate? Thank you
@SummerRainDIY5 күн бұрын
Great question, @annadani1832! Glycerin and sodium lactate serve different purposes in shampoo bars, so they’re not direct substitutes. Glycerin is a humectant that draws moisture into the hair but won’t help harden the bar like sodium lactate does. If you use glycerin instead, the bar may turn out softer and less durable. If you’re looking for an alternative to sodium lactate for hardening, you could try adding a small amount of a hard butter like cocoa butter or an ingredient like cetyl alcohol. Let me know if you have more questions-happy to help! 😊

Thanks so much for sharing, do you need to let it cure like you would cold process soap?
@SummerRainDIY5 күн бұрын
Great question, @patriciasawyer661! Unlike cold process soap, syndet shampoo bars don’t need a curing period since they’re not made with lye. However, it’s a good idea to let them sit for 24-48 hours after molding to firm up and ensure the bar is solid. This also helps any excess moisture evaporate, making the bar harder and longer-lasting. Let me know if you have more questions-happy to help! 😊✨

Thank you for the instructions. To clarify for those who are not on the topic, whipped wax is when you use a hand or stand mixer. The method used here was pipping on the top of a candle, which I need to say I didn't think of before, and is a bit easier than whipping. I will definitely try. Thank you!
@SummerRainDIY5 күн бұрын
You're absolutely right, @aga_n916! Whipped wax typically involves using a hand or stand mixer to create a fluffy texture, but in this video, I focused on piping for the decorative topping-such a fun and simple alternative! 😊 I’m so glad you found the method helpful and easy to try. Let me know how your candles turn out-I’d love to hear about your results! 🕯✨ Thank you for watching!

I found that, personally, salt scrubs work better in the winter and sugar scrub works better in the summer on my hands.
@SummerRainDIY5 күн бұрын
That’s such an interesting observation, @pholbrook2277! It makes sense since salt scrubs can feel a bit more invigorating and cleansing, which might be great for winter dryness, while sugar scrubs are gentler and can provide that extra hydration during the summer. Thanks for sharing your experience-it's a great tip for tailoring scrubs to the seasons! 😊✨

Can you do this with beeswax too?
@SummerRainDIY5 күн бұрын
@nicoleegbert7599 Great question! You can use beeswax for a secret message candle, but keep in mind that beeswax has a higher melting point, so it might take a bit longer to reveal the message as it burns. If you're okay with that, beeswax could work beautifully, especially when blended with a softer wax like soy to balance the burn rate. Let me know if you give it a try-I’d love to hear how your secret message candle turns out! 🕯✨

Hi does your drizzle lose its colour after a few weeks? This has been happening to me
@SummerRainDIY5 күн бұрын
Hi @slayy_kayy1435! Great question! If you're using a high-quality fragrance or colorant, the drizzle should maintain its color over time. However, some colors can fade with exposure to light or heat, especially if it's a natural dye. To help preserve the color, keep your candles in a cool, dark place when not in use. Let me know if you have any other questions-I’d be happy to help! 😊✨

I would like to try this but do I really need the polysorbate?
@SummerRainDIY5 күн бұрын
Hi @reshma2983! Great question! While polysorbate isn't absolutely necessary, it helps the oils in the scrub blend more smoothly with water, preventing the oils from sitting on top of the water when you rinse. It makes for a more even and pleasant application. However, if you don’t mind a little extra oil left on the skin or prefer a simpler recipe, you can skip it! Let me know how it turns out if you give it a try! 😊

My frosting Keeps cracking, what Can I do? Also when doing the base it cracks
@SummerRainDIY5 күн бұрын
Hi @nataliagb24! It sounds like the wax might be cooling too quickly, which can cause cracking. Here are a couple of tips to help: For the frosting: Try lowering the temperature of the wax before whipping it. If it’s too hot, it can harden too quickly and crack. Also, make sure you’re whipping at the right consistency-too thick can cause cracks as well. For the base: Ensure you're pouring the base wax at the right temperature (around 130-140°F for most waxes). If the wax is too hot when pouring, it can cool unevenly and lead to cracks. Let the wax cool slowly in a draft-free area, and this should help prevent cracking! Hope that helps! 😊 Let me know if you try these tips!

@SummerRainDIY17 күн бұрын
Absolutely, @HenryRosales-eq1ks! You can definitely add lavender, menthol, or eucalyptus oil to your Dead Sea salt recipe for a cooling and soothing effect. Lavender brings relaxation, eucalyptus is refreshing, and menthol adds that cooling sensation. Just be sure to use skin-safe essential oils and stick to a safe dilution.

Hi, 1.1% perservative is germall plus?
@SummerRainDIY17 күн бұрын
@firdaustahrim4426 Hi! Germall Plus should be used at no more than 0.5% to be effective and safe. If you used 1.1%, it’s likely more than needed and could cause skin irritation. In this recipe, I actually used Optiphen Plus at 1.1%, which is within its recommended usage range.

Can we swap out the wheat protein for rice or baobab with the same %? And can I use Polyquaternium 7 instead of the Keratin at the same %?
@SummerRainDIY17 күн бұрын
@paulinesmith8380 Great questions! Yes, you can swap wheat protein for rice or baobab protein at the same percentage-they’ll both provide excellent hair benefits. As for using Polyquaternium-7 instead of Keratin, that’s totally fine too, and you can use it at the same percentage. Just keep in mind that Polyquaternium-7 focuses more on conditioning and detangling, while Keratin helps strengthen the hair. I haven’t personally worked with Polyquaternium-7 before, so I can’t speak to how it will behave in this recipe, but it’s definitely worth experimenting with! Hope this helps!

Question …can you add a preservative to the recipe …I’m thinking …I always use my scrubs in the shower with wet hands 🤔
@SummerRainDIYАй бұрын
Yes, you can absolutely add a preservative! I would recommend Germall Plus amzn.to/3CFVhQ3 for this recipe. Another idea to help extend the shelf life is using a container like this one: goto.walmart.com/c/5355188/1398372/16662?sourceid=imp_000011112222333344&veh=aff&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.walmart.com%2Fip%2F4pcs-Silicone-Shower-Gel-Dispenser-Lotion-Holder-Travel-Container-Random-Color%2F5343902171%3FclassType%3DREGULAR%26from%3D%2Fsearch. This way, you can keep it more hygienic even when using it with wet hands in the shower. 😊 Hope that helps!

You can definitely make massage oils this way, but be sure not to overheat them as it could cause skin burns. If you're planning to use them as wax melts, just take care to use them safely! 😊 xx
