Do you have plans for the improvements you have made for this saw? I have just purchased it for home handy work and have started a few of my own upgrades. The mitre gauge i replaced the rail with 1 I made out of plastic kitchen chopping board, no more slack and glides through the T slots like a dream.
@dougrorison121128 күн бұрын
@@kimclark4055 I didn't make any formal plans for the improvements I made Kim. I did make a few jigs that I saw on You Tube which were for specific projects. I did make a cross cut sled which I use regularly. I also had to replace the gearbox as the threads on the winding mechanism stripped out which was very disappointing. There is a video about that little episode as well. Good luck with your use of it.

Tell me what kind of Table saw The best one
@dougrorison1211Ай бұрын
The ' best ' saw is really a matter of opinion & how much money you want to spend. The Makita is probably the most expensive of the ' cheaper' saws. There are much better quality saws on the market but they are much more expensive to buy so it is really up to the individual to decide what level of quality he wants based on his budget.

@@danielkemp1442 No Dan I was in the age group for conscription but my marble did not drop. I did have friends who did serve but I went off to Europe & lost touch with them. I have always been interested in world history & during my time in Europe in the early 1970's I visited many historical sites of WW2 including Berlin (east & west) & Berchtesgaden in Bavaria (where the rubble of Hitler's compound was still in place.) When I returned to the land of OZ I developed an interest in Vietnam mainly because I could so easily been sent there. Although I was in fact politically opposed to our involvement I actually returned from a working holiday in NZ to register. Had the ballot gone the other way I would have gone. I have read Paul Ham's book Vietnam which is probably the most comprehensive book about Australia's involvement but it weighs 1.3kg & runs for 814 pages, not the sort of book to read in bed.( It could probably kill you if you fell asleep with it above your head!!) I have been to Vietnam 3 times now & travelled down the length of it by train, plane & bus. It is a lovely place to visit & although some officials are overly officious the people are genuinely friendly. If you would like to discuss anything type my name into g mail with the numerals one eight after it.

Hi. Enjoying your video GCR - great info. You refer to an app for recording odometer and fuel. Which app do you use? Thanks, Dan
@dougrorison1211Ай бұрын
Hi Daniel, glad you are enjoying the video. The app I use is called FillUp which is on the Playstore, the Android app store. There are a number of different apps so you have a choice depending on the information you wish to record. A previous app I used suddenly disappeared so if you want to keep a record over time you might need to find an app that allows you to download the information you record onto your home computer for instance. Hope this helps Cheers Doug

Hey Doug, reckon I will get one of those Uhuhu stoves. Can’t believe how long it burners for, you could probably cook a good feed with out any problem I’d say looking at your testing. Thanks for the suggestion mate.🍺
@dougrorison1211Ай бұрын
@@geoffwilson7774 Hi Geoff. I was really impressed with the Uhuhu when I used the pellets & a few small twigs to get it going. The heat is unbelievable once it gets going. Controlling the heat may be problematic but lifting of the pot or pan would solve that. A feed of bacon & eggs would be no problem I think. The other alternative is to let the flames die down a bit then start cooking. I guess that's the fun of it because this is going back to pioneer type cooking over a campfire & in those days we didn't have knobs to control the heat. I got mine on eBay for about $50? I reckon I will use it a fair bit on cold mornings when those gas canisters lose a lot of pressure. Might be worth a try mate eh?

In my case I needed to shorten the door and a few boards. I knew there would be problems but I didn't expect a few nuts to be missing but I have something that is probably from another machine. And the worst thing about it is the lack of level "0" in this saw blade. I think a hammer will help.
@brianbice14272 ай бұрын
The makita is a great saw for the price and almost every table saw you will be making jigs to suit the work you do with the saw, the biggest disapointment is the blade insert and has to be the first improvement as the plastic one bows to buggery when cutting things lie box lids and such but after that fix the fence build a crosscut sled and a mitre sled and that will cover almost everything you would need and those you need to build for any saw and the main reson for building a mitre sled is the sled track size is so small and adjustable mitre rail for the track are all made for standard size t-track that is much larger.
@dougrorison12112 ай бұрын
@@brianbice1427 Yes Brian the plastic insert is shocking. I made one out of aluminium to overcome the bending. Then the gearbox packed it in so I replaced that & the saw has been ok since.
