I’m restoring a 1974 Jimmy and have to do the same repairs. Thanks for videoing your build. It has helped show how everything fits together before I start dissecting.

Did you seal the center brace to the roof skin?
@CottamCustoms
@CottamCustoms 7 күн бұрын
Not sure what you mean. I rust sealed the inside of the braces because once the roof goes on, I won’t be able to get to them. After the roof is on, I will use the 3m flexible foam to fill the gap between the roof and the braces.

My dad isn’t into the mechanic stuff and his toolboxes were sitting there, every single tool that I have is mine, and I worked really hard to invest in everything that I have. Thanks for your input. My family is always welcome to use what I have when they need it.

Those old frames are made out of play dough 🤣 straight or bent body mounts will just bend right back at the first speed bump. Should have boxed it or just made a new one out of modern high carbon steel 🤷‍♂️

Where the front of the quarter panel meets the rocker, did you weld that or does that just get seam sealed?
@CottamCustoms

Depends on what you want to do. From the factory they are seam sealed, and people usually re seam seal it. We haven’t decided what we are doing yet😂

This isn't a 1960's motor. A small block Chevy 360 cu inch didn't even enter the world until 1969. Prior 327 blocks were small journal. 1969 327 sm Chevy was a big journal as a 350 would be. Get educated prior to making videos please. Just a general appearance would tell you this is not a 60's engine. It's probably not even from the 1970's looks like an 80's garbage block
@Thundarr995
@Thundarr995 2 ай бұрын
That's a 70's engine. & it's an Olsmobile engine & they are ALL 2 bolt blocks. Olsmobile never made 4 bolt blocks. You don't really need a 4 bolt block. The bulk of engines from every manufacturer are........2 bolt blocks, and they usually hold up just fine. It looks like it may be a 350 Oldsmobile Rocket. Some manufactured in early 70s were rated at 310 hp from the factory.

A 2 bolt can handle 500 HP and can turn up 6000 depending on how it's built it can handle up to 7000 rpm. I would definitely hold on to that block if it's a 60s date code there will be Olds guys out there that'll definitely want to save it

No such thing as standard unless you mean the " Metric Standard " the entire world uses , I believe you mean " imperial UNC or UNF" . I haven't seen a car with Imperial bolts for 30 + years . And who,s stupid idea was it to make chain sprockets out of aluminium?? Oh let me guess , sprocket manufacturers, never saw an alloy one untill 20 years ago , b4 that they were hardened steel and lasted 5 + years , or more .

Glad that was the last VO, i was going to say that the purple handle is cool and all, but my electric ratchet beats all. Haha! Although, with that much effort, probably would have needed the baby impact gun.
