Vrijdag 18 juli is de eerste paal voor de bouw van een nieuwe loods de grond in gegaan. Baars en Zn BV, de eer de heimachine van Boer BV te mogen bedienen. De gebeurtenis werd feestelijk gevierd met een koel glas champagne. Vervolgens werd een tweede heimachine het terrein op gebracht om het proces te versnellen en de geluidsoverlast voor Nieuwland enigszins te bekorten. Met de komst van de nieuwe loods wordt de opslagcapaciteit plaatmateriaal van International Plywood met ongeveer eenderde uitgebreid. IP - importeur van houten plaatmateriaal - biedt aan ruim 35 medewerkers uit de regio werkgelegenheid. Met de uitbreiding in Nieuwland wordt een verdere groei van de organisatie mogelijk. Door de herindeling van het gehele terrein zal er ook ruimte gemaakt worden voor natuurontwikkeling op de overgang van het bedrijventerrein naar het agrarisch landschap erachter.
