My first medium format camera was my Father’s Kodak Bullet. Since then, I have used 6x6, 6x7, 6x9, and 6x12cm medium format cameras. For a beginner, I would recommend a low-cost Holga medium format camera.

For a novice it is absolutely essential to hire an experienced model to get things rolling. An experienced model could in effect direct the shoot for the novice photographer based on prediscussion, or help to materialise the photographers ideas. It is an investment that is necessary. Once the photographer feels that he or she is at a level that could correctly direct a model to achieve the desired look, then a TFP could be the right option for some. I am in my late 60s and do not do any model or portait shoot anymore, but in my 20s the best 'amateur' work that I did was with a friend whom she was a pro model and the worst experience was with a novice model whom had just started at the agency and had no idea and neither did I to be frank.

Good use of Tri-X. For a change they also do have a look of the previous version of the Tri-X, which had more silver and was not a Hybrid emulsion.

WAWAW! I’ve just bought this from eBay after seeing your pics - looking forward to ditching the single use cameras and finally taking the plunge with my own camera (well re-discovering film photography when I was a child!) do you recommend any particular film for this camera? 😊
@AndrewMclean4 ай бұрын
Fantastic!! I just recommend something that’s relatively cheap, with a look that you enjoy so that you can start experimenting! Something like Kodak Gold or Kodak Ultramax would be ideal but anything cheap really! Once you’ve shot a few rolls you’ll start to develop your own taste and style and can go from there safe in the knowledge that you know your camera! Let me know how you get on!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 🦉

Interesting thing is that despite the size and weight of RB67, it's a more comfortable camera in use because of interchangible rotating (and motorized) backs. Yes, you can change color to bnw in the middle of action but what I love the most is that I don't have to rotate the whole camera especially when mounted on tripod. My path was Kiev-60/ Pentacon Six/ Fuji GL690/ Mamiya RB67. One secret tip I can recommend is to shoot Kentmere 100/400, it's a brilliant film for the price, a bargain.

Did you develop yourself? HP5 Definitely underdeveloped or underexposed. Foma has more contrast, but there was one shot that had the same problem too.
@AndrewMclean6 ай бұрын
I didn’t no, both rolls were lab developed
@arneheeringa966 ай бұрын
@@AndrewMclean hi Andrew, Foma 400 has generally more contrast, which I like. It's however quite grainy, but I've got good results with TMax Developer. It's so much fun to develop your own film, which you can easily do at home using a changing bag. You don't need a darkroom, only for printing. Do you have any community darkrooms near you? Here in Germany I print in the VHS course (open university).

If you’ve checked the battery and the battery contacts then the only advice I could give would be to look for somewhere nearby that can complete a service on the camera for you.

Hi! I have a question: The exposure counter on mine dosnt show. I got it loaded by a professional at a camera shop so I think they would have done it correctly 🤷🏻♀️ and I can take photos on it. But I just hope the photos are being captured. Could it just be that the screen isn’t working properly anymore?

Hi sir, can you help me. I have this camera, but everytime i try to take a pict, the screen of my camera showing "EH" and then turn off itself. Is there's any way to fix it?
@fldzady7 ай бұрын
I mean "H3"
@AndrewMclean7 ай бұрын
I’ve just read through the manual, E means the film is not loaded properly, H should only appear when zooming in or out and should disappear once the zoom function is completed. It may be worth taking it to your local camera shop to see if they can service the camera as there maybe be a loose contact somewhere

Can you use this tripod to make shots from let's say 2cm off the ground? Either by the legs extending way up vertically so you can flip the tripod or by inverting the center column?
@AndrewMclean7 ай бұрын
So the legs don’t extend back upwards but the do allow you to get very low and you can invert the standard centre column or there is a smaller centre column included as well!

some goods , points , some dumb points ... film prices go up as well as down , AI might just be the best thing that could happen to film photography ...AI will move people back to film as a protest .. I have being paying 8£ a roll of film since the summer time for tri-x. see analog wonderland ... , there are cheaper prices out there High film prices isn't the reason you haven't shot alot of film, if you are dropping 2 grand on a digital camera .. 2 grand will buy 2/3 years worth of film .. and lastly photography and especially film photography is about the print , learn how to darkroom print .. remember this, humans are not made in a day .. neither is art !!!

Commercial photographer here. Learned on film/shot film for several years. The last time a client was fine with me shooting film was 2006. Nothing for a client since then. A shame since film can be so unique looking and the process demands different workflow. But I just can't imagine any of my current clients being fine with me showing up with my RZ. Most of my jobs require remote computer screen viewing via zoom or at the very least sending along jpgs to someone off site....
