3 years ago, someone pressed and twisted my foot near my little toe(5th metatarsal side) with his shoe's tip for 40 minutes due to which the muscles and nerve of my foot was crushed and a pit has formed, it hurts a lot, even after doing many treatments, it is not getting better, please tell its treatment.

So she was really getting Joe to weight-bear through the right leg and increase clearance when he swings the right leg(mini-hurdles). When Joe was going up the steps she cued him to step up with the right leg first as an exercise activity to increase weight-bearing and stability on right leg. Very effective activity. Generally though you want to step up with the strong leg first when going up stairs and step down with the weak leg first when going down stairs, as it is much safer. This is excellent Physical Therapy, just wanted to mention that to folks for their safety. Only practice these activities with your PT or once you get further along in your rehab with a family member or friend. Best wishes to all you stroke warriors who are fighting the good fight.

That's an actor , not a stroke survivor or a patient w mild one. Every patients stroke type, severity and recovery will be completely different going through the 7 stages. Different length of time and success, improvement. It's insulting to people w very bad damage in their case, as if they did not work hard enough to get well. If you got well count your blessing, and prevent a second one. As in my case, the second may not be as forgiving. I am independent and moving , but I am not as after the first one. I was digging stumps 2 days after my first. It's good to hear success stories, just know not only you work hard but you were blessed w luck. Make sure you keep it that way!

Thank you for watching our video. This video is of an actual therapist and patient who were on our inpatient unit at the time of filming. As you mention, each patient is different and has their own unique abilities, limitations, and rehabilitation goals. We wish you the best in your continued recovery.

What is the highest car you can use the transfer board in
@HelenHayesHospital4 ай бұрын
The use of the transfer board is most ideal when the heights of the car seat and the wheelchair seat are level. If the surfaces are uneven, the transfer board may still be used, but it will be more difficult sliding or scooting “uphill” from the lower surface to the higher surface.

What is your response when pts say "I'm not doing that silly mess" in reference to ADLs when all they want to do is "go walking". I do explain how important and functional that ADLs are but they just dont get it sometimes.

“Our therapy staff have similar discussions. At times, it is challenging to make the connection between these activities and the functional improvement in the home setting. We find that regular communication among the various disciplines in therapy helps to convey a unified message that each aspect of care is unique and important. As progress is being made, our team continues to evaluate the patient’s goals to determine if any modifications to the plan of care are necessary.”

does the hand placement actually facilitate trunk leaning on the left side?
@HelenHayesHospital5 ай бұрын
The hand placement on left side allows the therapist to facilitate weight shift to the right side while promoting upright trunk posture for improved control and balance.

I had a psychotic break, don't know if it'll help, but I struggled with speaking for quite some time, I credit D&D5e, Dungeons and Dragons for you folks that don't know.(any TTRPG will get you there) with letting me fail gracefully enough to keep trying, and because of the structure of taking turns, and for people to sometimes dominate scenes, it allowed me that sort of period of reflection and growth, and error with grace, to succeed in becoming about as fluent as I was before.
