Why trap the intake in behind where there is less air ?
@JaredKunnath Жыл бұрын
Air gets pushed into the cowl through the vents while driving. There isn’t less airflow. It would be about the same as in the engine bay
@timeattackrs8522 Жыл бұрын
@@JaredKunnath you do realize that the air gets push into the front of the vehicle when you’re driving, which makes it more efficient to have the intake in front of the ram air. Instead you have placed it where there is significantly less air and hotter air temperatures considering you have moved it to the exhaust side of the engine just trying to understand the logic? Or is it just for cool noises ?
@JaredKunnath Жыл бұрын
@@timeattackrs8522 Yeah I understand air gets pushed into the front of the car while driving lol. I also didn’t buy the intake for performance. Induction noises were the main reason. @Jared Kunnath I wanted to ask you if you ever upgraded your WGA to one of those Mountune IWG75-14 (?). I wanted to know if you installed one and what your driving impressions were between it and the stock WGA.
@camwhitman54252 жыл бұрын
The long story here is I took my car down to Mountune in LA and had them install some of their parts I ordered. They totally effed up the racing clutch install and that in turn, destroyed the transmission 3 times, before I had Ford put back the original clutch on the 3rd replacement, that Ford kindly gave me the 2018 edition with the LSD installed, to make up for the one that Mountune installed and was shipped back with the first transmission failure...so on with the WGA they installed. What a bad upgrade! Turned my Focus RS into a Mustang GT, in other words slower, with a really long power curve, unlike the FocuS RS that enjoys early shifts and quick boost. No matter how many data logs I sent and how many new maps I received from them, the car was SLOWER. So I had Ford tech put back the stock WGA when we did the new final tranny and original clutch put back in. So that’s what I was getting at. The IWG75-14 from Mountune ruins the character of the RS, and I don’t recommend it.

Boost is currently weak on my Focus RS. I think the BOV May be stuck open because I really have to give it throttle to get the turbo to get any sort of response. Anyways it bothers me that it doesn’t have the high boost now and I never hear the BOV open up.
@JaredKunnath2 жыл бұрын
I’d recommend taking off the bov and cleaning it. It may have got dirty and is clogging it

@@JaredKunnath thanks. I took it in for a leak test on the turbo and the tech couldn’t find any leaks. That’s when I said, you know, I haven’t heard the BOV go off in the car in like more than a year. He said, yeah now that you mention it, I didn’t hear it at all. How in the world did you get the hose on the bottom of the air intake on??? The clamp screws are to short. When I loosen them enough to get the hose on I can’t get the bolt back on.
@JaredKunnath2 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about where the boot connects to the turbo or the ventilation hose? The vent hose was tough. You do have to push it in VERY hard
@joeyariascoots2 жыл бұрын
@@JaredKunnath where the boot connects to the turbo. I was only able to get it about half way onto the turbo. I took my time, soaked the tube in hot water to flex it, and used a dab of water from my finger to create more slickness. My reasoning is that it will probably be okay because the stock tube clamp is smaller and fitment was not this tight. The other thing is that the intake pipe is a smaller than the boot. I tightened up the clamp but was left with a tiny part on the boot that was open. So it’s not sealed up 100%. I could tighten it up more but I’m afraid that bolt will snap off and then I’d have to do the job all over again. That would be a nightmare. Wrap up the little opening on the boot with duck tape to seal it up? Lol.
@JaredKunnath2 жыл бұрын
@@joeyariascoots oh boy lol I didn’t have that much of a problem with it. I also clamped it down REALLY tight. I don’t think you would break it. I also wouldn’t use tape haha.
