I know you want to have more insulation on the outside, but why didn't you use Nudura's thicker ICF panels on the outside or use a wider ICF and insert their foam inserts on the out-side of the panel then pour concrete??

Trades do not pay well. They're the laughing stock of the work force at the moment. I do Commercial HVAC and while I enjoy it. I'm also paying a ton of money on Tools, Travel expenses and benefits. I barley make more than someone whos in fast food. YET i'm working hard. Until trades pays more than the average remote job you're gonna see less and less people going into them and more illegals accepting those jobs.

The only code enforcement I would pursue would be to require new construction to properly seal basement walls & floors against moisture and radon since such products are readily available. Yes there are people who own homes who have no business touching anything electrical, on the other side there are lots of very competent knowledgeable people who can follow the codes, do the research and perform safe, code-compliant work on their own homes. I had one of your recommended roofers re-shingle my roof. That was the worst experience I ever had with a qualified roofer. You have to in order to see everything behind the Sheetrock. Wiring, Plumbing, Vapor Barrier, Insulation, Ductwork and to also see Structural Integrity for load bearing walls and what not! If it’s wrong you need to replace it no matter what! Love your work Mike.

So what would you do different on a home with a basement where the builder poured the slab directly on the dirt with just a vapor barrier? Since there is no aggregat under the slab, how would it pull air from beneath the entire house?

I don't like the idea of everyone has a tree that grows money to pay for spray foam but removing drywall is a very good insurance policy and can actually save other trades time, therefore money.
