Your videos are great! but just quick tip... another is pronounced AnoTHer not AnoDer. Sorry to nit pick I just worked in a studio with a guy that spoke with the same accent and it always sounded so lazy.

The one thing I wish artists would do, for beginner and intermediate alike is to list what exact brushes and settings those have (provided they are free and not for sale) because that can really change how something looks. Same with colors chosen when showing how to shade/render. I sketched my own apple, but I am making up what colors are used here and somewhat where they go. I figured out the first 3 brushes, especially thanks to another comment, but the set that look like photoshop (IE the brush stroke is the image for the brush selection and not a picture of the brush itself) I can't find on Krita at all, so I'm betting those are imported. The textured brush I can not find and this isn't uncommon when watching other artists. Most use a textured brush and not the basic round brush and never say which one it is or often how to get it. Textured hair brush is NOT it. The cursor doesn't look the same and the effect is wildly different. For beginners too, brush settings are very very confusing. I did a lot of trial and error, especially on my blender brush because it over blends and makes colors look overly smooth and you need sharp angles and contrasts in most pics to make them 3-D looking Other than this, this is a great tutorial for people who know how to navigate Krita already and some basics under their belt. But please, fellow artists, tell us what brushes you use and their custom settings if they aren't out of the box on programs! Yes, talent and practice can make anything work, but brushes really do make an impact on a drawing, especially the texture.

I was trying to make some characters for a game and was having trouble starting because I couldnt figure out where to start drawing and how to continue it. You hit the nail on the head by saying that a lot of imagination is needed and a good idea of anatomy is needed. They are the exact things I have struggled with during art. Its like your video was perfectly addressing my problem.

It was helpful to watch this together with a simpler video from EvergreenArt. I thought In Krita and Firealpaca I could simply lay down the main colors, and then use a color mix tool to just go over the edges of the colors and magically get gradients, but no.
