I like Sierra and Gina because they are very talented women. They do really well in this play.

What totally wrecks me about Hugh's final "final lair" is you can feel the way he incorporated his feelings about saying farewell to the role into the performance. On the surface it's more subdued than his other performances over the years, but it's just as gut wrenching because you feel the grief, resignation, and love. Even the way he nods before he accepts the ring and takes his time singing "I love you"--it's like he's accepting that this is the end and giving a goodbye to savor.

Bravo! What a passionate performance! Bravo!

It's moments like these that really test a cast's teamwork, adaptability, and professionalism. I always love seeing how the performers overcome these sorts of obstacles to not break the magic of theatre.

If the center audience was sitting on a rotating platform that when the chandelier falls, the sensation of being direct below it will freak you out. Under the rotating platform would be the pit whete the chandelier would fall into and disconnect. The entire floor seating would need to be on automated platforms and the audience must be seat belted in for their safety. It would be a designer nightmare but a creation never done before.

I always find this one of the saddest moments. There's something both creepy and innocent about the Phantom having this fantasy effigy of Christine. Like, he's so desperate for love and human contact, but also so out of touch with basic normalcy. And then when you realize that the effigy is able to reach out as if to embrace the observer, it makes it even creepier and sadder. Has the Phantom often retreated into the arms of this mannequin? And wept? Does he not realize how showing this to Christine might alarm her? Or just make him look crazy? Or pathetic? It's just so, so sad. But also scary. That's why it's perfect.

Thomas was an awesome Phantom.

Now, I've always preferred in musicals for the characters to be moving while they're singing, but this feels a bit like overkill. It kind of takes away from the sensuality of the song. I do kind of like the leggings on the dress though.

I always thought that unmasking him in public was kind of mean, he was already very self conscious about his appearance and he was always hurt by how people reacted to his real face.
