I have an older Murray 155. The FNR works but the 1st through 7 speed/gear doesn't. I have nothing when releasing the brake/clutch until I move it to 4-5th location. Any information you could give me on this issue?

Thank you for talking about the pitfalls and stupid things that ford did (such as connectors that you have to push in and pull out to pull out, or that the fuel rail has to come off). It saves me time!

Those one knob welders are semi-automatic? When they work, results are better than hassling with manually dialing welders at first time.

Did you heat up the can before you used it? They tell us to put them in hot water to make them work better. I do this too but never had one blow up! Glad your ok!

The fan on mine sometimes will turn on. Otherwise, the green power light on the battery reads either two bars, one bar, or red when I have tried to charge it at different times. I use it to get what I can out of my lawnmower. I don't want to buy a new battery at this particular time, but I may have no choice.

I am restoring an engine. (It’s just a clone 196cc) and noticed that it has aluminum push rods. I think I would rather have steel pushrods in it though. I have a spare clone 163cc that has steel pushrods. The aluminum rods are 0.0035 shorter than the steel rods. Would it be ok for me to swap them? Is that a big enough difference to warrant not swapping or will this difference not be a problem? Thanks for any help.

My Dad actually uses one of those heaters to heat the house. Well, not necessarily heat the house, but to help keep it warm. He put it in our unfinished basement and ran a dryer heater duct vent from the basement to the kitchen. He connected a 1" metal pipe to the exhaust hose and to our wood burner in the basement to let the exhaust escape outside. Then he used a very powerful small desk fan he put inside the duct vent to help blow the heat around. It doesn't WARM the house, but it does keep it warm enough that our furnace doesn't kick on every time someone opens the kitchen door. It keeps the thermostat at or above the temperature set so the furnace don't kick on. It actually worked wayy better than I thought and saved us a lot of money by not burning the fuel our furnace uses..

Try spraying everything with soapy water beforehand and it will not be such a a struggle. Ditto for the installation too

If you weld a 6-in bar on top of your latch going straight up and then tie the rope to the top of it that'll give you a more leverage and save you on ropes. Probably make it easier to open too. At any rate awesome setup. I wouldn't mind having something like that around

I have a club car golf cart with a predator 420 swapped in. I used the old throttle box that was near the engine to tie in the new linkage for the throttle so the foot pedal still works. The only issue i ever had with this swap was trying to get the fuel pump to work properly to pull fuel to the engine. it seemed like after 30min of running, it would loose vacuum and stop pulling fuel. I swapped to a gravity fed fuel tank and had no more issues. I want to go back to a fuel tank under the seat at some point and back to using a fuel pump. I will be watching the progress of your build to see how you address the fuel system. Also, the original clutch on the original engine will not work. Golf cart engines use a taper shaft.

Possibly should have kept some of the original throttle controls. It may save you time later on. Also, you can get that ignition switch console out without cutting it or dropping your steering column, I've done it lots of times. Lastly, 6 or 8 bolts, the entire engine cradle drops out, that holds the engine and transaxle.

Poor John, always made fun of, and always made to work LOL. Love ya buddy. Does John even know about the Chipmunks LOL...unless he's watched any of the shows, I don't think he's been around long enough to know of them LOL. I don't think it'll be much longer before John is doing most of this stuff on his own. How are those Skil tools holding up for you? One of the stores in town has brought in a bunch of the Skil cordless stuff...seems like between Skil and Ryobi they'd be good homeowner tools to have around.

Those springs are way different. The diesel has more coils, thicker coils, and those springs would make a cam lobe completely circular and much smaller, really fast
