There's mods that change it, but if you're doing vanilla, it's still a mouse killer.

This is a bone necro, not a summoner.

I usually duped to beat the original on PC - that said, I've beaten the PS1 version without cheating a few times - and going back to the original on PC, it was quite a bit easier than I remembered to. I haven't played more than a bit of the belzebub version unfortunately, so can't speak on the difficulty shift there, just that a lot of people swear by it and devilutionx

it's $6 on GoG these days, and works good on modern systems from there (I have an affiliate link in the description to help support the channel) While I still have my old physical version, it requires some patching and fiddling to get working on modern systems, so really not worth the price unless you really want the manual and hotkey diagram in physical form (the GoG version comes with digital versions of these, and some of the game's concept art) I doubt we'll ever see it come to steam/epic since it's EA that owns the rights to it, and their love for classic titles is... underwhelming.

It's a fairly strong weapon, and can definitely get you through hell, though I generally like waiting until I get a phase blade for it (speed and durability reasons, and since I use it on post-game builds too). If I had a decent enough weapon already, I'd oddly use that Um for a duress armor

surprisingly phantasy star 4 still holds up pretty good imo (it's on my short list to stream for this series too lol) - but it really is surprising how many features of these games are still good even in a modern context :)

A personal for me is Symphony of the Night. It's been a fair few years since I replayed it BUT it's also a masterpiece. ;)
