Not everyone can afford or should afford college. True. Not everyone needs to go to college. True. However, the issue is that you have to be motivated and take initiative if you don’t want to go to college. Most kids just out of high school are aimless and don’t know what to do with themselves. So they go to college to get 4 more years to get more mature. Expensive way to pass the time. But hopefully they pick up some critical thinking skills and maybe an internship or make some connections to get a job. If you can go to work right after high school, good for you. You can always go to college later if you have to.

No one in college tells you how hard it is to make a lot of money. The entire idea of college is you get "educated" to get a good paying job. The problem is those good paying jobs are incredibly difficult. Think engineering, medicine, law, etc. They make it seem like anyone will be qualified for those jobs just getting a college degree. No one who was bad at math in high school ever went through the higher education system and became a mathematician. They were smart before they went to college. Most colleges need to shutdown and only a select few should be admitted. The problem is so many employers require college degrees for jobs that shouldn't. That's where the scam comes in. The education system and corporate America somehow inadvertently colluded to create this perfect scam.

College is a scam unless you’re going to be a doctor or a lawyer then maybe that’s the way to go because you have to go to college to learn those kind of skills other than that no way. Going to college just to get some clown degree to impress an employer is stupid..

During medieval times, education was a privilege only for royalty, nobles and clergy. It was a society where ignorance and superstitions reigned. Education should not be a privilege. An uneducated population falls victim to demagogues and unscrupulous government. If someone doesn’t want to pursue a higher education, that’s on you. But if someone does, he/she ought to be able to do so without having to sell an arm and a leg. An educated people is the best investment a country can make.

This is awesome!! it is the only diet that has ever worked for me. I did 22 hour fasting every day for two years I lost 40 pounds. In those two hours I made sure that I ate everything I wanted to eat, including dessert every night. Once I got married, I started eating 3 times a day and I gained all the weight back. I am definitely going back on this one meal a day as it is fully sustainable as long as I have a variety of 0 cal drinks throughout the day it’s super easy.

I went to school to be a teacher. It's a job that requires a degree, and I do think that educators should have a certain amount of education, even if the majority of that education is simply just training in how to manage all of the different facets of a classroom (it's a lot harder than you think). What I'm not okay with is the fact that most states don't pay teachers a livable wage, despite requiring such a high level of education. Most of the classes I had to take to get my teaching degree were useless, entry-level classes, many of which were less rigorous and engaging than the content I was teaching my high school students in those same subject areas. I would have loved to have taken more classes on classroom management, special education, ESL, and more that would have not only made me a better teacher, but substantially more hirable. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option for me as I did not have the financial resources to take all of those extra classes. I was fortunate in the sense that financial aid and scholarships paid for the majority of my schooling, but that didn't help with the long-term reality that teaching is not only exhausting and stressful, but it was never going to pay the bills let alone grant me the financial freedom to do other things that I wanted to do in life, such as travel. I don't regret my college experience or my career choice. I loved being a teacher, and maybe someday I'll consider going back to it. I'm just sad and angry that society doesn't value teaching as a career while simultaneously requiring teachers to take on considerable debt for the proper training and education to actually do the job.
@rtlau-mk4di
@rtlau-mk4di 3 ай бұрын
I think the issue isn't so much that society just doesn't value teachers (which I believe is true in the United States), it's a problem of supply and demand. The wages are lower for teachers than for, say, engineers or doctors because there are too many of them. You mentioned that some of the classes you took for your education degree were not as rigorous as classes you teach to students in high school. I would bet that if the process of becoming a teacher were as rigorous as becoming a doctor or engineer, teachers would be paid more because there would be less teachers. Becoming a teacher in the U.S. is too easy. Students who decide to major in education even have some of the lowest average SAT scores.
@fairywingsonroses
@fairywingsonroses 3 ай бұрын
@@rtlau-mk4di I wouldn't say it's easy. I worked my butt off to be a teacher. Most of the "easy" classes were gen ed classes that EVERYONE has to take like English and history. The actual teaching classes varied in difficulty depending on who was teaching, what the content of the class was, etc. Yes, there were a few people in my cohort who got a free pass when maybe they shouldn't, but to say that it's "easy" is disgenuine. And part of the reason why it might be "easy" now is because they are so desperate to get anyone with a pulse into some of these schools that can't seem to hire enough staff. We honestly wouldn't be here right now if we had just paid teachers more and created better working conditions to begin with instead of waiting until the ONLY way to get teachers into the field is to literally just hand them the job with little more than a background check. This is 100% the fault of a society that has undervalued teachers for far too long.

The child doesn't have to be raised by the system. I don't see why men cannot raise the kids too? Taking care of them could be split between the parents, rather than being exclusively taken care of by the women. Some countries offer parental leave for men too when they have a newborn.
@ChandlerKnowsBest

This is generally not maintainable because money needs to be made. Are you implying both parents should work part time to home school the child? Curious as to what you think a realistic and feasible solution would be if both parents were homeschooling the child.

@chandlerknowsbest I don’t think that’s what they were implying. I think they were saying that fathers can also raise and be at home with their children just like mothers can. While not traditional, there are some cases where men are stay-at-home fathers while the mother is at work.

This is what happens when the singular is more important than the collective. We're always going to talk about how to strike that balance but until then if no action is taken, we will perish as a family unit and then as a society. But maybe that in itself is beautiful, after all nothing lasts forever.
@ChandlerKnowsBest

Agreed. Although, while nothing lasts forever, we should try to sustain our natural values, family, relationship, and unity, rather than end things through separation, and give all power to the elite who do understand the power of families.

It does WAY more than make sense. Go back and look at the history of the welfare system, equal rights movement and the changes that came thru the 60's, 70's and early 80's. Removing men from the household in order for women to get state benefits created a system of control (by preventing the core family unit that held together and was backbone of civil rights movement), created capitalist envy (which drove desire to outdo the Jonese next door), and to prevent the ability for men to organize by denying them access to their sons via creating adversarial relationships with the mothers (and creating the prison pipeline for young men today). Mom's can't control their sons, just like they can't control their hot-in-their-tail daughters who are chasing Tyrell & Rayray. Parenting of multiple kids is a two person job that really needs 4 people (grandparents, aunts, siblings, etc.). An old black coworker used to tell me that integration was the worst thing that happened to his community. He grew up before and during the transition. It destroyed the family unit and self sufficiency that his community HAD to do one their own. The community took care of the kids, including the neighbors being able to discipline them, give them chores or work and that's where the kids learned skills that would apply to whatever trade they'd get into to earn money. They learned all the skills to build a house from the ground up (foundation, framing, wiring, piping, brickwork, etc.) The women could cook up a storm, had daycares, sewing skills, were professional cleaners and educators. Integration became the Walmart of society in the way that it replaced community values with opposing big box super capitalist envy ones. It took a wrecking ball to those communities independence and made them say "I want what THAT group of people got; our stuff ain't good enough." This automatically reduces the value of your own and elevates the value of the other group who only cares about your dollars and your self destruction. Migrants & immigrants from other cultures maintain their identity when they come here for a few generations, but they still keep their neighborhood stores or take over ones in the hood. They keep their advantage b/c they aren't targeted by the divisive welfare system. They keep their husbands and families together b/c they recognize they're in non-friendly territory and they are very much "other". Whereas we chase the American dream in a place where the system is rigged to make you fail & will put other groups above you to drive home that point. Capitalism blows and Femnzm was co-opted and repurposed to create a block of people who are easily controlled. Once all the men are gone, who are going to do the dirty & dangerous jobs? Daddy govt could turn off the water, food, electricity and gasoline at any point; what are all those empowered women gonna do then? Protesting won't do anything and 99.999% don't have the skills, knowledge or access to turn anything back or nor rebuild all those infrastructures from scratch. Whereas you couldn't throw a baseball in a football stadium full of guys without hitting 3 or 4 of them who are trained in any of those areas. Guys do whats NEEDED to build & maintain society. There is no choice for us.

I think you misunderstood my point. Women happen to show the most interest in fields that pay way less than male dominated fields i.e Nurses and teachers. If you want to make the same as men, or more, become an engineer. Because women aren't going into those high paying fields, they naturally make less. I did not say women don't want to get paid high salaries, but they clearly don't want to do the work that it takes to get paid the high salary.

Women who do choose high paying fields are often paid less than their male counterparts and face an uphill battle when it comes to being promoted. I work in a male dominated field. I have been repeatedly undermined by my male coworkers making it difficult to seek a promotion. Like a male engineer is typically going to make more money than a female engineer. When women do enter these high paying careera, the pay goes down or stagnants. Everyone deserves a living wage across the board. Our society cannot function if we continue to undervalue labor associated with women. Also remember the only reason you as a woman can even have a platform is feminism. Feminism is why I was able to become an engineer and go to college. It is why i can get a bank account to put my money in.

@ChandlerKnowsBest
@ChandlerKnowsBest Жыл бұрын
@lw498 no one is saying those careers are easy. However, if you are going to become a nurse, you should know that you are going into a field that will not pay you that much. If you want to make 6 figures or more, you need to become a physican/doctor or go into a higher paying field like tech, which most women don't do. It's a self inflicted problem. Women have more education than men and can easily decide which field to take. You have every right to go into a field that pays high salaries. Statistically, women don't show interest in those fields. You cant become a teacher, which pays an average of 65k a year, and expect to make six figures because you're a women 😂 try becoming an engineer, bank investor, CEO, or lawyer. If more women did those types of jobs it would lower the gap drastically. Although I don't think that's a good idea, it's a solution to what you guys complain about.
