Thank you so very much. A friend of mine who is a prof at Biola alerted me to the Advent entry featuring "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree". I appreciate your listening! Is it too early for "Merry Christmas"? 🙂
@kelseyreed4793Ай бұрын
@@BobBennettMusic never too early. Or too late. (Dare I go into a Gandalf quote?). But truly: isn't Christmas a reality we can celebrate daily? Or to put it another way: for the Father, all times are "now"...we are just practicing and waiting for that to be true for us as well. ;)

So cool! I sometimes do “Can’t find my way” by Steve Winwood . I change the “somebody holds the key” to ‘Jesus holds the key’ don’t mention that to Blind Faith. I also play EC’s ‘Presence of the Lord’. I talked with you years ago when you & Dan were doing morning radidio on KBRT. Y’all had a song contest that a buddy and I entered and you called me on the pay phone (‘member those) at my workplace. Anyway it made my day that you liked my song ! Thanks Bob. I used to give your vinyl (making a comeback) to my unsaved friends as a witnessing tool. ‘First things First’

Sunday, August 18, 2024 - 9:44 PM PDT - Thanks Vernon. Not many folks remember the old KBRT days now. Always loved "Presence of the Lord" and recorded a cover version in 2011 with Bill Batstone (who totally owns the vocal here) and Alex MacDougall. It was on a little known album called JESUS MUSIC AGAIN. When Phil Keaggy found out we were doing this, he offered to play electric guitar ... and he totally did his Incredible Phil Thing! Howdy, Bob . . . a quick story . . . the second time I ever saw you live was at Calvary Chapel San Diego in 1978. On that night, I was in one of the first few rows center with a huge ghetto blaster tape deck recorder across my lap and I recorded your entire show. When I got home, I listened back and was com;pletely taken with "Carpenter Gone Bad" and spent the better part of a week working out every nuance and every note on guitar. At that time of my life I wasn't writing much but was covering a few John MIchael Talbot and Terry Talbot tunes and a few Bob Ayala pieces. Eventually I included "Carpenter" in my sets and the reaction to the tune was virtually always the same: "WOW- DID YOU WRITE THAT?" and I would tell them about this fellow I heard at CC San Diego and they'd go "Bob WHO?" Of course, when First Things First dropped that pretty much changed everything. I used to sit in my living room with my roommate and listen to FTF with the lights off and just get watery-eyed listening to that vinyl over and over. SO blessed to meet you later in life and- pinch me- to have had the honor to share stage with you a few times. Praises Be to The Healer of OUR lives . . .

I met you, Bob, when you came to Appleton, WI around 1990 to sing at Calvary Chapel. You stopped by WEMI studios for an interview and I had a chance to tell you how much your ministry meant to me. I'll say it again 34 years later, thank you for sharing your heart and gift with us.

Bill ... Thanks so very much for "stopping by" and for commenting. This was pre-Covid house concert at my friend David Vaughn's house. He used to live in Buena Park but now in Texas. It's been a good chunk of time since I was last in Appleton, but I have many happy memories of visits there with Pastor Dwight and Calvary Appleton. And thank you for playing my music all those years ago. In a pre-streaming, all-on-our-phones world, radio was my only shot at getting heard beyond my own home! Blessings, Bob. (Costa Mesa, CA)

Bob, I must start listening weekly to these events. Keith Green, Dan Peek (who I incidentally met in- person in Farmington Missouri when he was promoting and personally signing his first Christian LP in 1977 at the Farmington Walmart), and 2nd Chapter of Acts played a big role in shaping my Christian interests and personal worship and contemplation thoughts as to why Jesus would allow himself to suffer so greatly upon the Cross. In 1978, I received Jesus as my personal Savior. Then, -Bang- you came along into my CCM world in 1982 and beyond. You touched my soul in a new fashion, and for that I owe many thanks to you sir, among all the rest. God bless you. My ministry is not much, just being a helpful neighbor to those needing help with garden equipment, or to borrow a lawnmower when theirs breaks. Sometimes The Lord brings along somebody who is so confused about a cult they are interested in, and I am allowed to present the real Good News of the real Jesus to them. I am praying my own grown daughters will eventually trust fully in Jesus as their Savior. They had shown interest in Jesus earlier in grade-school but sadly have shown little interest after the age of 20. I think they were exposed to nightmare fuel against God when in college, common among so many. My heart breaks for them every single day of my 67 year life, ever since then. Then, "Come and See" comes to mind and provides comfort and hope that they will hear the still small voice from the Holy Spirit in their lives one day not far from now. And begin a new trust and love for Jesus, our Savior, Redeemer, King, and friend. "Still Rolls the Stone", reminds me to pray for God to remove the stone and the blindness that is on the hearts of my daughters. Love in Christ, David from St. Louis County, Missouri. Thanks for reading, and prayers.
