one of my best friends was fired from a convenient store for using the fire extinguisher on a fire that was across the street from the store next to a bunch of propane tanks. they said since he used it off property he more or less "stole" the fire extinguisher.

My original GP looked at a very painful ulcer on my tongue that I’d had for 3 months and told me to try Bonjela and come back in two weeks. He went on holidays and I needed blood test results, so saw a different doctor in the same practice. He took one look at it and made an emergency appointment for me with a specialist. It was tongue cancer. I do not smoke, so we don’t know the cause, but it was cut out and I will need to be scanned every 6 months for the next 5 years. Needless to say, my old GP won’t be seeing me again. If you ever feel that you are being fobbed off, refuse to leave and demand a different doctor.

My mother, a very active woman, quite suddenly couldn’t put any pressure on her foot. She went to a doctor, he did not examine her, just glanced at her chart and said, “You’ve developed arthritis. Take Tylenol and use a cane.” I wasn’t with her for that appointment and I was LIVID. Mom was so depressed to lose her mobility she actually got sick. So they sent her to an arthritis specialist. I was there, fired up and ready to argue that I’d never heard of sudden onset full blown arthritis (maybe that is a thing, I don’t know, but I have arthritis and it’s gradual). But the new doctor arrived, EXAMINED her, said, “You’re diabetic?” then demanded extra tests and new x-rays. Turns out she had a bone disorder caused by her diabetes that had degenerated the strength of the bones in her feet. When she took a wrong step on vacation, EVERY BONE IN HER FOOT FRACTURED. Recovery took about a year and she was a real treat to be around during all that, but she is now 75 and chases her three grandkids around everywhere. (This is a very abridged version of an absolute ordeal.)

This story is very old so some is recounted from my mom, but when i was in like 2nd or 3rd grade? I had a very severe case of consipation. No clue i did. Kept going home with SEVERE stomach pains. My mom took me to my primary doctor over and over and they never did anything for it. They told my mom i was FAKING! I think she took me like 6 or 7 times and because of her having to leave work to get me she almost lost her job before she said F this and took me to the hospital. I was only days away from RUPTURING due to being so constipated. I could have died. Thank god for the er nurse that listened to my mom and me and instantly got me a mri or whatever to see. I had multiple laxatives and i remember it sucked but hey im alive. Idk if my sto.ach issues today as a adult is due to it but hey at least i can take a shit😂

story 20: ok but how the F••• does a doctor get THAT conclusion from Lyme Disease Spots? Was this dude just trying to cover up that he was clearly wrong about the kid not having Lyme Disease, or is he really this stupid? Also, who in the name of God himself is stupid or deranged enough to say they gotta amputate a kid's leg WHILE THE KID IS CLEARLY LISTENING? Like, bro, the little dude's 11, and he's not under any form of anesthesia, the likelihood that he doesn't know what you're saying you're gonna do is so slim the trapeeze bug from A Bug's Life can't walk on that s•••

I will say it’s really male doctors of a certain age. I don’t know if it’s a generational thing or if they just burn out faster, but I don’t trust a male doctor over fifty to diagnose a hangnail. Not on a woman, anyway. But I have had several younger male doctors who were excellent. Very patient with anxiety, too. I remember when my mom got stents put in her heart. My dad, brother, and I were traveling home after. My dad is a very quiet man. He had maybe said six words all day. Twenty minutes into the car ride home he said suddenly, “You see this hat on my head?” I said, “Yeah…?” He said, “It’s older than your mother’s doctor.” All three of us cracked up. But that doctor was one of the best I’ve encountered. Haven’t had a bad female doctor yet, except a vet who was too stern when my cat was dying years ago. (I do not say bad female doctors don’t exist. That’s silly. I’m saying I personally haven’t encountered one yet, but, then I’ve had WAY more male doctors.)

Used to work at a shop as a tire tech. We had a sign at every exit and entrance stating that if you wanted to enter the garage portion of the shop, you had to be escorted by management. This was double true for the garge doors as it was posted in extra large signs on both the left and right sides of both of them. In the summer months, we would open the garage doors so that a breeze would come through. The number of people that would come in to "watch you work on their vehicle" was absurd. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but it's marked for a reason. No, it doesn't matter that "you know what you're doing." If you did, you'd have followed the signs. Oh, you work on the vehicle yourself? Cool. That explains why the mechanic is writing up an estimate that's going to feed his family for the next month. You wanted to show your kids the inside of a garage? Please just follow the sign. I'm not a babysitter. Oh, you believe I'm doing this wrong so now you need to tell me how to do my job? I'm literally putting air in this tire based off the manufacturers specification that is posted on the inside of your car door. No the psi on the tire is not what it's supposed to be pumped up to. That's the maximum amount of pressure that tire has been safely tested at. The number of people who come in, after literally blowing their tire up in the parking lot while pumping their own tires up, is enough of a reason why we offer free air.

I was having my womenly visit. The speculum was in. We were just casually chatting when I sneezed and the damn thing just flew out. It took a good 5 minutes before the doctor, the nurse and I could stop laughing. It was one of those moments where we would stop and then one of us would giggle and the laughter would start up again.

I have a good one. It’s the food industry. When I was in high school I worked at a local restaurant that sold burgers, cheese fries etc. in entirety it was bar food. The food safety inspector came (not because I called them to come inspect the place before school started back up) and they failed in less than 10 minutes. Bugs in food within the fridge to a literal dead rat under the grill. That kitchen was Gross. There was so much damage and mold that they had to tear down that restaurant. 10 out of 10 will never work there again.

Got sold a used car at Ford dealership that had a big dent in the drivers side door. I had found an identical model with no dent at a competing dealership. Same price, with only slightly higher mileage. Salesman told me it was nbd because they have a dent guy that comes in every monday to fix up the dings in cars that come in. Said to bring the car back on Monday and it'd get fixed. I told him I would buy the car, but I wanted the dent fix in writing on the contract. Well, I took the car back on Monday, and their dent guy immediately came back with a "can't fix it" answer. Salesman shrugged and basically said, "Nothing we can do about it." Luckily, I had my sales contract with me. It read, "Ford will fix the dent in the door." Not, "Dent guy will try to fix the door." Salesman's manager was pissed, but he honored the contract. They had to pay for all the body work to fix the dent in my door.

The thing about the whole 'can and will be used against you' is true, because it can never be used for you. If a lawyer would ask a policeman, or any other witness, what you said because he knows it would be good for your case, the prosecution would shoot that down as hearsay. So even if the cop likes you and knows what you said is true, it can not be used FOR your cause...

I once cancelled the insurance on my IPhone when I was 18. I had my phone robbed 4 weeks later (and crucially after the reinstatement period had expired). However, if you tell a company that you wrote in (like a physical handwritten letter) and that you expected it to have been reinstated, they can’t prove you didn’t send it. I paid my insurance premium, got my new phone and I have used this trick ever since.

I work for one doing weed control and fert and their great, its a huge neighborhood and takes two guys all day, but the guy is super nice and gets to know us, calls us by name, shows us around, any spots to watch for like standing water or soft spots or people who dont want the service. I also work for one that is a total pain in the ass, I treat the common areas and they complain the every time over something stupid, last time it was because they dont like that I park on the street because my truck makes the neighborhood look dirty.
