That’s valid. I would say that Farsight and crisis suits are all about positioning. If they’re not where they need to be to kill the right target then they’re pretty useless. And if they’re not in retaliation cadre they feel a bit less threatening. Broadsides are always a good choice

Not helping the vespids be more integrated is disappointing but their new data sheet alone I think is a big boost. You can fit more of them in the auxiliary detachment but I wish they’d get an invuln with the detachment or a guiding ability

Agreed. The points cost is too high. We do have a lot of cool ways to reduce CP costs and gain them back

I’d say depends on the job. Far stalkers are cheaper for screening out enemies and have a bigger footprint in the mid board. But pathfinders just spit more high power shots

I would've personally dropped the broadside for crisis suits. That would've made it a premium feeling box. I'm starting Tau from scratch and so I will likely still grab this box as nothing will go unused, but it definitely just feels like an odd mix match of units

That’s an alright plan. Playing two solo commanders isn’t a bad idea. It’s just that you get better value out of them when they lead a unit. So your play style will be a little different but still fun I’m sure. You’re going to want all of those models at some point so it’s certainly a good box in that regard.

A newer Tau player would get the most value out of this box. If you don't already have these 4 suits it would be a decent buy. Go to an FLGS that offers you the discount too and it's even better. Would DEFINITELY want to find Crisis suits somewhere else to fill in gaps.

@FlashAndSmash there's about 510-525ish points in this box alone. For smaller games like 1k points, I might hold off of the Riptide, only because it's the most expensive at 180pts and eats up a large chunk of a 1k point list. Maybe build up with some additional troops or crisis suits or whatever. Definitely bring the Riptide back in for 1500+ points if you want. I haven't seen the datasheet for Vespid yet, but give them a test drive. Just an FYI, the holiday boxes usually sell pretty fast, so keep an eye on the release dates or try to lock in a pre-order at a FLGS to lock in that discount. Sometimes, the non-GW stores only get a very small amount of Battleforce boxes (like 1-4 of each army).

Just take away the ghostkeel and broadside. Replace them with a firewarriors squad, a stealth squad and crisis suits and it'd have been golden.

Yeah crisis suits would be the best addition. And yeah even though it’s retaliation cadre infantry would have felt a bit better if it was added in the box
