I've installed hundreds of mods, but it made the game too buggy and unstable. IMO there's really only one mod i'd consider essential, and thats the spellwheel mod, as it eliminates having to bring up and scroll through the item menu every time you need to select items, which really slows the gameplay down. Having all your favorite items come up visually for you to grab makes a huge difference. It also uses the UI mod which makes inventory management much better. This is all you need to improve the game where it needs it the most, while keeping performance and stability as good as possible.

When Nofia released, I had some remorse for not sparing the money to preorder. Did I dodge a bullet. I'm glad you giving this a chance but I'm still hearing that the thing STILL has issues I'd rather put up a wire with than deal with. The Nofio is still unavailable. I hope because the Nofio team being able to sell out and have the funds to make an improved production version that doesn't have all these issues.

My nofio remains in its box until they fix the audio and video cutouts. Absolute dealbreakers for basic functionality to still be failing this long into release. While I fully expect it will be fixed one day, the product is nowhere near what was promised.

I’m interested, but I already hate the wireless compression when using airlink, steam link, virtual desktop, and even the wireless adapter anchor or whatever it’s called for the quest. They all look like you’re watching tv in the early 2000’s

@@brianschwarm8267 the big difference with the Nofio, is that’s basically a dedicated connection. While with the Quest solutions you’d need your own dedicated router to get a stable connection. You’d also need a router that allows Wifi6. But that is a completely fair reason

Good video. My last HMD purchase was a Quest Pro at launch back in October 2022 and haven't found anything compelling to upgrade from yet. I did get a Quest 3, which was a much better mobile and passthrough HMD than the Pro, but I still preferred the Pro for PCVR, colours, build quality and controllers so returned the Quest 3 and have been waiting for an upgrade. The MeganeX sounds appealing, basically a Bigscreen 2.0 in some ways, small form factor, microOLED but much higher resolution and supposedly much better lenses than the Beyond. It's on my radar. I love so much about the Pro, but the low resolution displays and lack of Display Port connectivity really hurt its PCVR performance and I'm ready for something better in 2025.

This mirrors my own feedback pretty closely. What the game has feels very polished and satisfying, but the problem is what it doesn't have…karma, alternate endings, weapon upgrades, optics, non-linear open sections, enemy variety, asset variety, surface sections… SO much stuff we have come to love from every other Metro Game. Additionally, as someone who is obsessed with post-apocalyptic, soviet, survival horror, VR shooters, this game also falls short mechanically compared to things like the ITR franchise or solo dev projects like ConVRgence or Zona. Ps, fwiw, the lurker models are taken from Metro Exodus

the thing you explained with blurryness hurting your eyes sound to me like your eyes can't focus because *something* isn't aligned or you are slightly myopic (which often goes unnoticed irl) but can cause major headache in VR if not corrected properly. I tried the PCL without contacts at a friends house and I noticed a slight headache/eyestrain at like 10-20 minutes.

This was basically the case for my first gasket. Yet the second gasket, it was just the edges of the lens that blur. For someone that uses their peripheral often, most people, it can be jarring. Especially in competitive shooting settings. For Sim Racing this wouldnt be a problem, as much.

The dark ones are in Exodus idk why you think they are not as they appear in Novisibirsk at the end of the game.

@@Ind1go_Cloud they’re more like Cameos or Easter Eggs in Exodus. They’re not a key part of Exodus. They do appear just not as frequently as the previous two games. That’s what I meant when I mentioned no Dark Ones in Exodus. They’re not a big factor in the game compared to Last Light and 2033.

The index is much larger so it’s less likely that you block enough sensors to actually affect its tracking . The BigScreen is tiny so being obscured a little bit means it doesn’t get tracked , if you face the base station more towards where you are facing so in theory if you have more base stations around you to not obscure it then it would work better.

I'm so scared to buy the Bigscreen Beyond. The first reviews from big channels I saw, were all so positive and I got so hyped, but now I keep seeing reviews from smaller channels about all those problems of the Bigscreen, and they make it sound so bad, like I'm literally scared to buy it, but I also don't know what better headset there is.

@@Lycos_dae there aren’t many options. There’s the Somnium VR1. But if you get the Beyond, their support team is great and you can switch them out etc. if it was a personal choice, I’d choose something else after my current experience with the Beyond.

There arent many options unfortunately, but I have been considering the upcoming MeganeX Superlight 8k aswell. I will be thinking about it some more (probably also discussing it with ChatGPT xD). I own/have owned a dozen VR headsets including several high end/exotic ones, and I consider the Bigscreen Beyond to be the best PCVR headset currently available on the market. It's a headset for experienced enthusiasts though, especially current Index owners looking for an upgrade. I would not generally recommend it as a first headset. The big thing with this headset is getting the fitment spot on. Its tiny size and custom made nonadjustable nature make it unusually sensitive to even slight fitment issues. This can require patience and skill from the buyer since fitment may not be quite right on the first try. This shouldn't be considered the same thing as RMAs due to defects or dealing with bugs, etc. I've noticed a lot of people put fitment issues into the same bucket with stuff like that when talking about the Beyond. If you're the type of person who would view it that way, then I don't recommend the Beyond. Fitment issues should be thought of more like ordering clothing over the internet. It may take a couple of tries to get the shoe size right. And since you're not at a physical store where you can grab other sizes on the spot, it's going to take patience waiting for shipping back and forth. There's a stark shift that happens when the fitment is just right. You no longer need to have your eyes directly forward. The eye box gets much larger. FOV increases. Glare decreases. Lens performance rises sharply across the board. However, not everyone can get that ideal fitment due to their face shape or other factors. And some people also can't be bothered to try and give up quickly. Which again is why I don't recommend this headset to everyone, especially impatient people wanting fast food level convenience. Similarly for the brightness, this is individual. For me, my eyes adjust and the headset appears just as bright as my other headsets. But for some percentage of people, their eyes don't do that, and the display just appears dim. Overall, it's an awesome headset if it's able to work properly for you.

Hi, I've been using oculus cv1 for years and I'm thinking of changing them (it's about time lol), do you think it's worth the BSB? The money would not be a problem, but I'm scared of some opinions regarding the glare. I would use it for gaming and mostly watching multimedia content, like youtube, series, anime, etc. I have seen that there is an offer where they give away the audio strap and I could take advantage of it. Or would it be a better idea to wait for a possible revision or BSB 2?

@@eduardobasket6 My first VR headset was the Oculus CV1. The jump from that to the Beyond is enormous. And actually, my first question would be whether your PC is up to the task of driving the Beyond because that's an increase of literally 5 times the number of pixels. This headset should be driven by a modern high end PC. If you're running older than a 20 series nVidia GPU, you won't even be able to connect to the Beyond since it requires DSC. As for the glare, I consider that the Beyond's biggest drawback. Much depends on how much glare bothers you. The glare is a similar kind of effect to the god rays you have already been getting on your CV1 due to its Fresnel lenses. You'll get glare rather than god rays. It is similarly distracting, but your brain can also get used to it and not really notice it anymore after a while. Glare is less obvious in the Quest 3 only because its an LCD headset, and so contrast is inherently low which tends to hide glare. Also note that glare only shows up in high contrast scenes on the Beyond. If the money is fine (and bear in mind you have to buy Index controllers and basestations, too), I'd recommend giving the Bigscreen Beyond a try and taking advantage of that Black Friday deal. If you decide you don't like it, you can return it minus a $200 restocking fee. But frankly, if you're getting along with a CV1 now, I expect you will be absolutely blown away by the Beyond. So long as it doesn't have a problem working with your face shape or something like that. As for waiting for a possible BSB 2 or whatever other future headsets may be coming to market, there's always the next new one on the horizon. You could keep waiting forever.

What if explorer 61 / the player is katya? When you die in the radius, you respawn and lose at least some of your memory. The white katya could be the lost memories collected by the radius. That's why she has no body. The black katya could be an echo of you right before the event happened at the castle. (Like the other black figures) The player could be what is left of katya after dying to the radius several times. So the game is basically you trying to piece together your own memories that have been lost to the radius. That could be the reason why everything is so chaotic and messed up, because you have only fragments of these memories left. The notes you get after some missions could be some aspects of that memory getting clearer. Maybe you (katya) were the closest person to the event that lead to the radius and it is somehow bond to you in a special way. Or it could be your dying brain trying to keep itself together clinging to fading memories.

There aren't many options worth considering. There's nothing on the market that is similar in size. But in terms of high end visuals, its competition is the Pimax Crystal Light. Having run Pimaxes for years though, I can tell you they have big problems with stability and quality control. They're awesome when they work. But you will experience periods of extreme frustration with their bugs and customer service. Somnium VR1 is justly barely starting to ship. This seems like a Pimax but higher quality without the bugs and bad QC for multiple times the price. But I have reservations about the company behind it. And it's even more bulky than Pimax (!). And... that's it. That's your options for high end VR that exist on the market today. (Quest 3 is a low end headset, whatever its fanboys claim) There's Shiftall Meganex and Pimax Crystal Super coming in the future. The Crystal Super will likely not release anywhere near Pimax's schedule and will be full of bugs and QC problems even worse than usual for Pimax (the Super has wildly aggressive specs). And Shiftall has failed to release two prior headsets. So while their new 8K is promising and seems like a better Bigscreen Beyond, we'll have to see if they are able to actually deliver this time. Delays are likely. And unknown what their stability will be like. I'm cautiously optimistic though.

They need to update it with newer panels, lenses, and ditch the stupid facial gasket nonsense for a traditional option and give it user adjustable IPD. There's already other headsets coming out with 3500x3800 panels, and OLED is getting cheaper every day. Thanks for doing an honest long term review, instead of these stupid paid shill advertisements all the other VR youtubers are pushing. I'm on a Quest 3 currently (former Reverb user) - I mainly do sims. Its kind of a shame where the VR market is at right now.

Agreed! VR is still in its infancy unfortunately. Some fault is the ass games that gets made which feel like an “experience” instead of a game. Then we get gems like Metro Awakening or Ghosts of Tabor every now and then.
