I am more of the old school NASCAR that never had charters. The charter system is one of the reasons NASCAR is dying. I remember seeing more than 45 cars trying to get into a race, and have seen some of the big race teams going home because they were not in the top 40 fastest cars. I disagree with Denny. Charters = less fans. Without charters = more fans. More cars trying to get into races does bring the edge on your seat to see if your favorite driver makes the race or not.

Yep qualifying used to be a huge part of the sport. Now it’s irrelevant because you know everyone is in. Even Daytona only 1-2 guys are going home and you know it won’t be a big name guy because of the charters

Never been a big fan of Denny as a driver but when I comes to the behind the scenes owner stuff and especially what they are dealing with now I think he is pretty SPOT ON. My company did some NASCAR Diecast cars a few years back for one of our big customers and my boss said he had never dealt with the convoluted run around that NASCAR was just to do some 1/64 scale cars for our customer.

These teams decide to start their own deal and nascar is jacked. The teams have the engineering facilities,connections to go do it themselves. May not be on the big tracks at first… or would it?? IMO nascar has been out of line for years.

You were saying sponsorsput in money and its split up between the teams. I thought some sponsors went with perticular drivers cuz they liked them or something. Like Truex and Bass Pro. Or Allgiar and Brandt. Seems you would be taking away choice.
@BolognaBurger
@BolognaBurger Сағат бұрын
The sponsors still could pick a driver he was saying if nascar would split the money it wouldn’t hurt the teams as much when NASCAR competes/steals sponsors from teams. He didn’t want to get in trouble but that’s what he was getting at nascar has stolen sponsors from teams

Hey I agree of what we feel about the Olympic controversy I am with you! I hope other sports don't promote this nasty thing they promoted it, it was bad. I will be a bit better when racing is off their 2 week hiatus except for ARCA who is running both weeks. And NHRA wasn't off last week neither was F1, but I did watch NHRA and Tony Stewart did very this weekend in Sonoma, and made the last round for the 1st time. and I hear he and Leah are gonna have their first child late this year.

The main reason for this is the economy the inflation also Covid cost sky rocketed. Than this race car came from nascar it’s more. To make. Also sponsors don’t want to pay this much extra money. Should tracks n tv give a bigger piece of the pie yes

The fans follow their favorite drivers and their teams, not the sanctioning body. Go racing somewhere else. Bring revenue to the smaller, independent tracks. Loosen up the rules so that teams have more to work with as far as set ups and adjustments. NASCAR has been killing the best part of racing for a very long time. Make stock car racing interesting again!

The teams will have to show up at Daytona and keep the trailers locked up. Park them all, keep them shuttered. NASCAR keeps calling teams bluff. Time to make it not a bluff. If it needs to be this season, make it the last race (championship race). Time for hardball.

Uhhh if Denny doesn't like the way the rules are, he can sell his team & stop worrying about the charter deal! Denny seems to be the only one complaining about the proposals he's given. Denny should realize teams use to get 0 from TV deals become the norm in all sports, the charter system increased the race purse $ per position. Back in the day before the charter system some of the TV money tracks received went into the race winnings purse & NASCAR put $ in the pot too for race winnings & end of the year points fund $. Denny should be happy bc something is better than nothing.

Nascar works like the banking system. A Bank takes [[ your ]] money that you lend it freely and lends it to someone else at a higher rate then they gave you. Now they turn around and charge you a fee for looking after your money for you in banking fees. If you own a business but your employees don't have a account with them they charge your employee to cash your check that you have already paid them to look after in your banking fees so they double dip on every check you write to your employees. Nascar does almost the same thing. They offer services to the race teams with tracks and guidance while not really owning anything that it uses to make billions. . This next part is just for illustration only because they have been here so long } .Why should nascar care if say the wood brothers close's it's doors. Nascar has lost nothing while the 21 team would lose everything it has put into the sport. Yes they made a good living but on the business side they would be lucky to make 10 cents on a dollar with out the charter system. Bud Moore Ricky Rudd Cale Yarborough Buddy Arrington and most walked away with nothing. To me it's like paying for your home for 30 yrs then just as you make the last payment the government starts giving away new homes for free or like the gov. has done with student loan forgiveness. What about the people who couldn't go to college should the gov. send them 30 grand to make it all even or just support the people who were to sorry to pay their loans back. Until race teams stand their ground nascar will never give up their banking system. I'm sure if teams don't show up to every race nascar will do something to punish them but the teams will have to unite. The teams own the ball but are they united enough to take their ball and stay home until the bully is weeded out.

I would tell all the teams to live within their means. It costs 18 million according to Denny, not because it has to cost that, but because that’s what they choose to spend.

france is the biggest whoremonger in business today, look back at the history of nascar, look at the men who sat in the hotel with bill france sr and between that group and bill france nascar was formed. skip forward a few years, same situation, nascar making millions, or more, teams barely making a living, volunteer crews for most teams, actually pay to enter a race, buy your own tickets to get in the track etc, so a group of drivers tried to form a union, nasar told them to fxxk off, if they try to unionize they will be banned. for instance richard petty took a season off and went drag racing, one big race nascar brought in lower tier drivers and drivers from other series to put a field together for the race. so one of the original group that along with bill france formed nascar, curtis turner, was banned for life by france for trying to form a drivers union in 1961, along with turner was tim flock, another original member of nascar. the france family are the epitome of pos humans, cutthroat money mongers with no respect for the ones that risk their life to make them richer and richer.

NASCAR needs to remember how they became a big deal. The fans buying the tickets, supporting the sport. How many fans would actually buy a race ticket if we know that our favorite drivers will not be racing that weekend? Sit down with the teams and work it out

sorry, great concept but as i commented above it never worked and nascar always comes out on top, you just can't beat the money. think about it this way, how many independent gas stations have you seen in the last 30 or 40 years, or grocery stores. during the gas wars of the late 50s the major company's were selling a gallon of gas for less than the tax, they actually paid when they sold it.

The Charter System was formed before the Gen 7 car was mandated. Since then only Gen 7 cars from a single source can run in NASCAR Cup events. This cost all the teams a very large sum of money as it virtually obsoleted everything that they owned at the time, except engines. This also put the privateers out of business. With the Gen 7 mandate and no privateers to fill the field it will hurt NASCAR if there is less than 36 starters. I believe that this would violate some of the TV contracts. I believe that NASCAR owes it to the teams to renew the Charters so the teams can retain some value for the switch to the Gen 7 cars. Also, NASCAR and the France family better be wary of SMI and the Smith family since there's been that long running feud between them. I'm more interested in what they might do.

Between the death of the era of NASCAR where you had to run a car that could be purchased off of a dealer lot, with a couple of modifications that you picked up from your local Emanuel, Moses, and Jacob, to a completely and totally custom built vehicle, and this charter nonsense, it could spell the end for NASCAR’s Winston Cup Series

NASCAR has little to no incentive to give power to the teams. If Gibbs, Hendrick and Penske all got out of NASCAR, what would change? Would Kyle Larson or Joey L just have to quit? No. Some new team would fill the void. That’s how those mentioned teams came to be powerhouses now. They weren’t always. It was Junior Johnson, Yates, Wood B. And others. The teams do not have any real negotiating power. NASCAR needs teams, but not those teams. It would actually be good for the sport not to have the above mentioned teams be any more powerful. Need new teams to come in and have a chance without spending a billion dollars to do it. All new teams are at the mercy of those powerhouse teams for technical alliance. So, I hope NASCAR stays their ground. All this from a diehard Hendrick fan.

I think Denny’s problem is he’s trying to get his big as his own head. He wants to be bigger than NASCAR. I think he’s upset because NASCAR won’t give him that’s right give him a championship. You gotta earn it maybe you should check out the NBA . and if NASCAR is making all the money, it’s not from the fans by looking at the stands when I used to go to the races it was difficult to buy ticket. All the races were sold out you had to just show up and hope for the best now I think they give them away to illegal immigrants just to get somebody in the stand is Denny the only one crying I think more of it if all the teams was together on this. Oh, by the way, Denny, and Michael, you are replaceable. Just saying.

And that is why I have not been a part of it for several years now. Before Bologna Burger I had to look up results and news on Google. I sure wish everyone... EVERYONE... would do the same thing I have done. I think it would be GREAT for the teams to pick and choose if Nasscar doesn't want to negotiate. Teams need to be tough in order to get Nasscar off their soap box. We had 130 cars at our local dirt track on Saturday and around 105 cars on Friday.
