So If I’m understanding this Movie correctly: Barbara used Thomas at Cauldron Lake to summon her lover; the devil… However, in the process Thomas created Alan with all his abilities written into reality to stop Barbara(this doesn’t really stop her, it just pauses everything as the story has to then finish years later as written; with Alan)… Alan eventually grows up, and follows his script taking him and his wife to cauldron lake; where Barbara unsuccessful her first time, tries to use Alan to summon her lover again… This time though Alan has the tools to defeat Barbara, but he also writes in a bunch of characters to help him when he realizes Barbara was successful; including the character Sam Lake plays, and Tor’s granddaughter… However, Barbara is defeated by Alan and his clicker before she can reunite with her lover… leaving the devil in the real world, and Alan trapped in the dark place. Anti then works for “Odin’s house” (the oldest house) as it’s protector and guardian; after being obtained by the house: which was most likely written into existence by someone along with Odin and Tor… as a way for Alan to defeat Barbara, and send the devil back to the dark place… which is most likely the plot of Alan Wake 3; with Mr. Door afraid he’s not real, and could be written out of existence by Alan as the last version of himself; which is why he’s trying to keep Alan happy, but won’t assist him on leaving the dark place…

Apparently, Sam Lake actually wanted to do a full-featured-length film. When he saw the team have a panic attack at that suggestion, he settled to do a short-film instead.

Maybe we can pretend that this is a condensed fragment of the film that Zane remade in the dark place. The full length film still exists somewhere.

My last hopeless romantic interest once said, he likes the game. I've never played it, but enjoyed that playlist. I moved from city where he is, back to my home town. And I deleted my social network account on witch I used to chat with the boy. Listening to the piece now, I have a vision like time passed, and I forgot his face, and my feelings have gone. And I'm carrying his blurred silhouetted portrait into the gallery with pictures of another people I cared about long ago.

For people that played DE and NEED more visual novels I recommend two games: Echo and Arches. The first one is a pychological furry horror visual novel. I won't spoil anything from it, but, basically, I couldn't sleep at nights the whole week I spent playing it, both from excitment to keep reading and the dread of horror I felt when the lights where gone. Arches, in the other hand, is also a horror furry visual novel (made as a sequel to Echo), but has more emphasis on exploring the relationship between the two main characters and their trauma. Cameron is not the best schizophrenic representation out there (I say this as someone with schizotypia), but he's not BAD. I'm not satisfied with how they managed his dissability but, eh, the game really deserves a try, even if you are going to critisize some flaws!

when Live with Me came up i sat at the border of my window, listening to it as I looked at the now naked tree in front of it, rain fell on my legs I remember when it was summer, I was listening to these same tracks, doing the same thing Now it's autumn here in Poland I had to skip some tracks like La Revacholiere cuz I felt I couldn't listen to them unless I hear them occur in the game While I only slept up to Ignus Nilsen Waltz, it was a beautiful experience - so thank you for creating this playlist

Currently playing through this. I've also started a new job. I thought I could play the "blank slate" card in both cases. But no, in the game I lost my memory, in real life, I met old colleagues that either I don't like, or I've never truly known. But the feel of the game to me is that I must've lived through this situation, or perhaps I used to be surrounded by this feeling before. All the people in the game are more familiar to me than I anticipated. Kim is like a lighthouse to me, and when I don't know what to do, in game or at work, I think about him and what he will do.

Thanks for this playlist. First days living alone and this music makes me feel at home, coming back to the summer nights when I used to play. It really is for contemplating life. so yeah because of that here's a wall of text about the game I'll leave it here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Disco Elysium as a game surprised me. As anyone here, I think. But the reason here is another. Premise: I generally, I like the... "Good commercial stuff"? Like, dunno, the most famous Zemeckis films: great commercial success, while having value for their media history. For me something of quality can be digestible and universal while keeping a high value in terms of concepts and message. Imo most so-said "artistic" works, that prioritize the author's point of view, for how I experienced them, are made with too much arrogance by their authors, that want to boast how complex their work and their vision is even when it's not the case. I know that Disco had a good commercial success, but in terms of style and tones for me it leans less towards a classic (maybe even Hollywoodian) narrative and approach, going more towards something on its own. It's typical of indie games, and in most cases I don't really like it for one reason or another. But when I played Disco Elysium, I accepted it for what it is. At the start I was taken aback by the large amount of prose, but I got used to it. And I did good: even though the tones and style of the game "force" a drier dramatization compared to what I like, the scenes still managed to be impactful emotionally; and this, also thanks to the prose. It was a choice that, even if non-conventional, felt thought out. I said that I like Zemeckis movies, so I was really happy to find experimentation done well. The gameplay was SO SATISFYING, even for someone that isn't practical of tabletop games. If I had the time, I would do WAAAAY more than a single run! And when I didn't want to follow the story, developing the skills and interacting with the environment was really cool. Even though I didn't like the dream sequences and part of the ending that much, in general the story was compelling enough to keep me entertained, even if a bit complex sometimes in terms of lore for my taste (the insect, the Soona storyline and other things that, though, I can't deny add a lot to the game). I may be biased because I like detective stories, lol. Also Kim <3 It's not the first time it happens, but for this game... I have a particularly good memory of something, let's say, so proudly indie, making me so emotional during my playthrough. One of the games I played from 10pm til 3-4am, because it was so fun. So, I like commercial stuff, and Disco Elysium :)). I don't know if ZA/UM will continue their activities in some way or not (at this point, I don't think they will...) but I wish all the best to its members: i finally have a more recent example of an indie work that manages to get a bit closer to my idea of quality. Or at least of something that for me was thought out, with both love and conscience.

I've only played a little of DE, but the fact that it's 99.9% voice acted is AMAZING, considering the number of different choices you make, and how some games nowwa days have difficulty voicing their linear stories. DE is exactly the kinda media I find myself gravitating toward. Most media tends to dramatize itself, it exists solely as a form of entertainment, and it requires a suspension of disbelief, because you know Real people don't act like they do, but a RARE few act like real life. It's characters and settings don't exist to serve the plot, they exist because they might as well be real. You see these characters and places, and you don't Think they are fake, are a fiction, you think they are Real people and places. And the emotions. The emotions are words I had never seen or heard before, but somehow I always knew. I see shit like "Espirit de Corps", and I think, "What the fuck kinda emotion is that?" But it turns out it's something like commoraderie. The feeling and ability to understand your brothers and sisters in arms, to see their glance at you, and understand what you need to do, and, as it says; "...not only willing and able but obliged to take a bullet for your partner." All these emotions are important, either at a base level, a level so deep down it's just nature playing out, or at a higher functioning level, that lets you be More than an animal. What happened to Zaum Studio OÜ is horrible, and I can only hope fate sides with them, as they deserve.
