Hi. Julian SSL 2 MKⅡ or Audient iD4 MKⅡ Which would you choose? Which one has low noise and a cleaner sound?

Calling 3 and 4 line ins a “bonus” is stupid. I was specifically looking for an interface with 4 inputs for my arranger keyboard, which has 4 outputs. If I didn’t need those, I would just buy a 2i2.
@SimonF-o7m20 сағат бұрын
The SSL 2/2+ uses an all-in-one ADC / DAC converter (AKM AK4621EF), and the MKII is probably just using a 32 bit counterpart.

Does buffer size affect the latency of the direct monitoring?

Hey julian. Ive been watching all your videos as ive been interested in audio more and more. I do livestreams and ive been using direct monitoring for that and in part i felt that hurts my performance as sometimes this gets me distracted or self concious about certain things and interrupts my speech or my natural way of communicating. However, i feel its hard for me to get used to not use this feature, as when i wear my studio headphones, i can barely hear myself and im doubtful about my tone and loudness. I have other streamers friends which never used direct monitoring and theyre happy not knowing what they sound like. Im currently using a Lewitt connect 6 trying to get used to use it only to verify the audio and then switch it off. I think for live application hurts your performance but for recording seems ideal. So far ive tested direct monitoring on GoXLR Mini, Lewitt connect 6 and Volt 176. My favorite monitoring was the VOLT6 one, seemed the clearer and least latency one to me but the one with the lowest volume output. Ive considered open back studio headphones, which provides better soundstage but there might bring audio leak causing feedback on the mic. So im sticking to closed back ones.

I can't make a decision actually between the SSL2+MKII and the Audient ID24. In general terms i prefer the SSL, but i'm afraid i'm gonna miss the word clock output and specially the ADAT option form the Audient. Rightnow i don't really need those options, but probably in the near future i will, so anybody could tell me their oppinion? thanks a lot!!

Please advise! I recently purchased Volt2, it suits me in almost every way, but there is one significant problem: the output to my monitors is very quiet. For comparison, I connect my Audient iD4 and also Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3gen to the same monitors with the same cables, the volume on the monitors is set to 12 o'clock, with the same settings Vol2 sounds one and a half / two times quieter. Does anyone have the same problem and is it possible to deal with it?

Hey Julian! Thank you for your in depth analysis! Question. Do you think a better measurement mic would help the unit get a more accurate IR responses, thus improve its overall performance?
@JulianKrause3 күн бұрын
Hey, no I don't think it will make much difference. When you select the included mic in the software, it will automatically use a calibration for the mic. This way the measured result should be very accurate and i highly doubt, that a better measurement mic will noticeably improve anything here.

Hi Julian have you tried 250ohm headphones on this ? i have this interface and been wanting a 250ohm beyerdynamic DT770
@PaoloStudioInYT3 күн бұрын
Hello. Maybe you could clarify one point. I also asked the manufacturer, took the ticket)) but they clearly pretended that they did not understand the essence of the question. And the bottom line is that one of the first reviews of this card in/on one of the reputable websites/publications mentions different internal gain settings (in other words, recording level). for dynamic and condenser microphones. And that the internal sensitivity levels are self-adjusted depending on the microphone, or rather when the phantom power is turned on. That is, if it is not turned on, then a dynamic microphone is connected, and then the level is conditionally higher, because the mic is quiet. And if the phantom power is on, then a condenser microphone is connected, and then the level is relatively lower, because the mic gives a louder signal. That's all good. But what about a condenser microphone that has its own Power Supply? It can be both Rode and others. For example, I have M-Audio Sputnik. After all, in this case, you cannot turn on the phantom power on the card. And it turns out that as long as the phantom power is not activated, the card will "think" that a dynamic microphone is connected and will adjust a higher sensitivity level. But a condenser microphone is connected, with power, it gives a louder signal than a dynamic one (about 2 times!), and it turns out that there will just be a powerful overload??? And the problem is not solved in any way? Here is the answer that was given in ZOOM support and from which I did not understand anything at all.: "The phantom power supply is switched into the Mic Pre Amp. This does not affect the gain of the mic preamp. Whether the microphone has a high or low output level is irrelevant. It is only important that you check whether your ‘M-Audio’ microphone, in conjunction with the preamp, outputs a microphone or line level from the preamp." Who is connected to what? Where and how to check? Who was standing on whom?)) Or they really didn't understand the problem. Or, alternatively, the automatic internal adjustment of levels depending on the activation of the phantom power was simply invented in an authoritative SOS and confused people)) It would be very interesting to know your opinion. Thanks!

For what you state in the conclusion it seems it would not be good or the best to have a amp impedance of 8 ohms to drive a speaker impedance of 8 ohms. So if there is a option. To set the amp impedance to 4,6 and 8 ohms what impedance should one chose to use on the amp to drive a 8 ohm speaker ?
