Why did KZbin wait seven years to show me this? Anyhow... This is a very fun deconstruction of the series. Thank you.

yeah i see no reason why anyone should be forced to sit through 3 hours of this hot garbage in a film class involuntarily. as expressed in the video, it didn't really pioneer any of those film techniques it claimed it did. maybe it could claim to be the first film of an 'epic' scale i guess. but my take on why it should still be screened on a voluntarily basis in film schools however, even more than the whole 'remember where we've been and where we need to go' aspect of it, is that it captures more than any other film up til then, the immense power of images on screen to create a vision of reality in the human mind. if anything it should represent the grave responsibility you have as a filmmaker to your audience, in regards to how your ideas are shaping theirs. its something even woke liberal filmmakers in Hollywood need to think about.

I got more out of 11 minutes of you and your dad’s adorable musings than I did out of 5 whole seasons of Dan Harmon’s inane nihilism.

KZbin is flagging this video as offensive / adult content… wtf. Noting that the US has always been run by inhuman ghouls is offensive to ghouls?

I've always wanted to try my hand at creating something similar to League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but with a Scandinavian lens. This is mostly spurred on by how the public domain has been growing again since 2019 in the US and with 2024 marking two big copyright events (Disney's original Mickey Mouse design going PD after more than one extension and DC/Marvel losing the exclusive right to the term "superhero" in merchandizing). It feels like a fun project to tackle, though I would never dream of being able to reference as much stuff as other authors have crammed into their attempts. Another attempt which was explicitly influenced by LOEG would be the French "Chimera Brigade". Similar high concept, but different execution due to an emphasis on "why did European sci-fi get phased out while American sci-fi thrived?"

Kyle, please don’t be too harsh on your old stuff. Your old stuff is what turned me on to arthouse cinema. I would not have branched out as much as I did were it not for you.

This film does not in any way dehumanize the Japanese. If anything, it censors the brutality of the IJA at the time.
