I did all this and it was fine for a week, but now it’s leaking fluid again from the new seal 😡

How much does something like this normally cost?Love your video
@ktecgarage3 күн бұрын
Thank you! The part isn't very expensive, but the labor time would be around 1.5 to 2 hours. Depending on the rate, it should be less than $300.

So on the pass side of the 09 crv has a larger axle seal. How do I remove and replace that one? Same process?
@ktecgarage3 күн бұрын
The seals are different sizes on the Civic in this video as well. The process should be the same on both sides of the CRV.

It does work when done correctly. You need to use 2 foulers, not just one.

one of those studs on the exaust manifold look a lot newer than the rest, currently going through this series and when i took off my exaust manifold one of the bolts appears to have been broken for a while. Wondering if you had to fix yours and how you went about it, Thanks!
@ktecgarage8 күн бұрын
I had replaced that one. I forget the thread size, but I got a box of replacement studs and bolts on Amazon. I drilled the old one and used an extractor to back it out. Lots of videos out there showing how to do it. Good luck!

Is it all good if my timing belt covers are not put back on?
@ktecgarage8 күн бұрын
Well.... You are running the risk of something like a rock getting between the belt and a gear. That could wreck the whole engine. Not very likely to happen, but Honda puts them on for a reason.
@alainwyndenaire688014 күн бұрын
Wear gloves. You dont need to dis-assemble the brake caliper. Whacking on the CV joint isnt wise. And when you remove the large nut from the CV joint, maybe bend the locking piece out first. Not very good overall

It is the type you use for breadboards when you build and test circuits. You could use a sewing needle as well.

The problem here is price. If the feds mandate that we have to have it on our cars, then they should also pay when it needs to be replaced. Otherwise people will never stop looking for ways around the issue. EDIT: Also I think it's crazy that modifying it like this is illegal when driving around with a check engine light on isn't. Just leave the bad cat in there and enjoy the amber glow on your dashboard. Problem solved lol
@batvette15 күн бұрын
Bad idea. The car is in closed loop mode and defaults to slightly rich running which gets poor mileage and can eventually clog the cats. Dont ever drive extended periods with a CEL on.

nice job..this is an essential job because if you neglect the oil leak the oil drip will eventually make the heater core hose that is on the outlet which is almost directly underneath the distributor... swell and it will leak out fluid or even burst and then you will have to replace that too... if you are lucky enough to catch it before you run so low on antifreeze that you blow the head gasket and possibly warp the head....
@ktecgarage26 күн бұрын
I had to replace that hose as well. The oil leak ruined it. Thanks for adding that info.
@robertamrozek235527 күн бұрын
Like the author said, you're just slowing down the real reason for the engine check light. I have honda civic I'm using this, and it works. After 5 years now turned out it is the valve's letting too much oil into combustion chambers. And it's not even my fault , honda says legally vitec petrol engine can burn up to 1 l of oil per around 6xx some miles, check your manual for exact mileage. There you have it, you're burning oil into exhaust system slowly killing your honda. But don't get me wrong, yours can be bad piston rings, or something else

Great video as usual. Did your egr valve leak smoke doing the test? Mine does and I'm told it's working as design, open when car is not cranked.
@ktecgarage26 күн бұрын
Thank you! Mine did not leak. The times I had the EGR off of that Accord, the valve was closed, so I don't believe it would be open when not running. Same for the older Civics and Ridgelines/Pilots. I don't know about other car brands.
@1Man7726 күн бұрын
@@ktecgarageI check and mine is closed and tested to see if it opened and closed which it does. But the smoke is coming from the lower body and not the gasket. The same for the original one and another new one. So that two new and one failed EGR. Stumped
@ktecgarage26 күн бұрын
I've found that you have to get under the car to see where the leak is at. It could be leaking from something under the EGR like the intake manifold gasket or a vacuum line.

You would need to light compound and polish, then apply the ceramic. Putting ceramic on a hazy paint only locks in that haze, it’s not thick enough to fill in and smooth it out but it ads a very minor shine. The technique with the polishing pad was also very uneven. Lastly you only need 1 or 2 sprays with spray ceramics. Too much and it bonds very poorly.

It didn't work because you drilled out the bottom of the non fouler. You're not supposed to do that. I have a complete brand new exhaust system, manifolds, cat's, all the way to the tailpipe and I get the P0420 & P0430 codes when using winter blend fuel, codes go away with summer blend fuel. Installed these, no more issues.
@batvette15 күн бұрын
You have to drill out one or the sensor doesnt fit. Then stack it with the second one undrilled.
