I love your linear rail version of the Neptune 4 Plus. I tried to cajole Elegoo into making a Neptune 4 Plus Pro with all steel motion control but they wouldn't but my Neptune 4 Pro has been a small print farm workhorse. The only problem was TPU squirting out the side of the extruder (I print a LOT of TPU) and breaking the plastic extruder housing which damaged the drive gear pivot, but Elegoo replaced the extruder and it's been great ever since. I'm finally upgrading to a larger format coreXY machine. My SV08 arrives in two days. I think I'll order the MicroSwiss hot end, not for improved print quality or even print reliability, but just to make it easier to cold swap nozzles without needing to muck around with the heater or thermistor and that messy thermal paste. I'm trying to decide if I need a hardened CM2 nozzle. I may want to print PETG-CF, but I may opt for ABS instead once I enclose the printer. I also can't decide if I want a high flow nozzle, and whether that would even work with TPU. I didn't get the coreXY printer for fast PLA. I'm much more concerned with print quality, dimensional accuracy and strength of the functional parts.

I just purchased one for my Plus 4 and it clogs in less than one minute of printing. This happens over and over. I have been using Elegoo PLA+ which works fine on my stock hot end. I can't print beyond a great looking brim with this hot end, it clogs between the PTFE tube and the heat break. Any advice or insight would be appreciated, thank you.

To me it sounds like your PTFE tube might not be cut straight allowing the filament to squeeze through. You could also not have it inserted correctly, as in all the way in. It’s hard to say with seeing the issue with my own eyes.

Did you adjust the screw that is on the side too much? You also might have routed the belt on the wrong path.

I was initially very interested in the SV08 but I wasn't ready to buy a new printer when the SV08 released. I design new products in the winter, so I usually get new 3D printers on Black Friday. I've gotten excited about a new printer before, purchased it and by the time I started using it there was a better printer for my needs. The SV08 has been out for half a year so the early teething issues should be resolved (thread locker on timing pulleys, firmware, slicer profiles, etc.) I'll occasionally be an early adopter but I prefer not to be. I'm looking forward to my first coreXY printer and having the larger build volume.

@@EdsTechTalk94 - I was building hobby 3D printers when the Makerbot was the only commercially available consumer 3D printer. I've been trying to push 3D printing to be a viable manufacturing process for consumer products. If the cleaning, drying and curing of resin 3D printed parts could be automated and the resin and cleaning chemicals were less expensive, that would be an ideal replacement for injection molding (as well as parts that can't be injection molded). However, FDM print quality has come a long way in just the last few years - Klipper, coreXY, much better slicing, filaments that help hide layer lines, etc.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you got a real issue. Did you try washing your build plate in hot soapy water? I would start with a full calibration before continuing, like bed mesh, z offset, all that fun stuff.

It should help to let your bed heat for 10-15 minutes before doing the auto-levelling

I would assume that’s a hardware issue with the application and windows as both being touchscreen’s, it should recognize that the system has one.

This printer has a potential fatal design flaw. I have been a product and machine design engineer for 40 years. The plastic bed mounts to a plastic chassis. You don't need to be an engineer to figure out this is an unstable inappropriate materials choice. My bed is badly warped and the ABL cannot compensate. So I get prints where the nozzle crushes the filament in one area and prints loose and to high in another. People who buy this printer would typically do so because it has a large bed but its of no use in you cant get a decent first layer. Based on my experience I would recommend against purchasing this unit. If you just print small parts like the benchy it will likely do well but try to print anything larger and it may be very problematic.

I have yet to run into this problem myself but I do believe this can happen. A bunch of people have reported the plastic bed has cracked and warped already. It sure was a bad design choice but it is was it is now. All anyone can do is spend another 100 or so on a voron bed replacement.

How are you supposed to tighten the upper brackets after the steppers are in place? How are you supposed to tighten the fourth stepper screw once the outer pulleys are in place?

Pretty sure I left the one screw out and it’s been a while since I’ve completed this mod. But I believe you tighten it before adding the steppers.

Thanks, I figured it out, had to go back a few steps and tighten everything down as I went. I do have an issue with layer lines now that I didn't have before. Belts are tight but not too tight, rod across the top doesn't bind. Do you have any suggestions?

when I try to open emustation, it closes automatically and I did add the games to my steam and when I open them from steam, the wii games work but not the 3ds ones... Any advice?

Could be that you’re missing a bios file for it. Some systems require it or the rom might be bad.

Emudeck is just a launcher to get all the popular emulators. You have to google what game you want to play then add ROM to the end 😉

I’ve said this before. I could but then when someone says they got different looking results then me and blame the mods and not the fact that my belts might tighter or looser then someone else’s could result in different print quality. Thus making a bad impression on the mod when in fact it does its job but it’s up to the creator to perfect the machine.

Best to send them a message, they can send you the correct mounting hardware. Sorry that happened but when they sent me the updated kit, they forgot to include bolt too. Mistakes happen.

They sent me a new motor to replace my faulty one. Which fixed the grinding noise. Other than that it has been working perfectly fine. I did convert it to mainline Klipper to add the Eddy sensor but that was me being a tinkerer.

Alright, because I'm lazy I gotta ask: you got some configs that work well with all this, that you can hook me up with? Im assuming (big assumption, I know) you're running opennept4une and standard klipper? If so, what calibrating did you do specifically after this final mod -- is the ratio of step to motion is a bit different in the z axis? Any other configuration?

Nope! It’s all stock Neptune firmware still. No need to change any configuration settings at all. As plug and play as it gets!

Nope! After you install it, you don’t need to worry about changing anything in the configuration.

@@EdsTechTalk94 Well, but i have to do some Changes on the printer itself. The big part cooling Fan in the Back of the x Axis doesnt fit the printhead Position anymore. The head sits lower, so the part around the nozzle doesnt get cooled as good as before. I also needed to shim the cooler from the Axis above the screws, otherwise it grinds at the z Axis pom wheels. So actually, the hole Positions of the bracket for the fanpaket need to be about 7mm deeper in Z. But that's what the printer IS for, solving Problems😅 May i ask you which accelerations and speeds you recommend with both Upgrades? According to inputshaper my max acc. for y is <3,8k, for y it's 12k...kinda weird

Well from my understanding, not every machines acceleration will be the same. Our belts could be at a different tension, the base they sit on places a huge factor in the machines stability. A lot of things play into that factor, I’ll let you know what it is at when I’m near it next time. I believe in my review of it I have a Google drive with my orca slicer profile if that helps!

Sent it back, bed warped and was not levelable after 3 weeks. back 2/3 of bed was fine front 1/3 print head would drag on the bed.

What printer did you decide to try after? Hope you got better results. It sucks with 3D printers that every machine is so different. You’ll get people praise the Bambu labs printers and other say they are hot garbage too.

Your first layer test print is only supposed to be one layer, you have 2, that will mask any errors typically showing up on the first layer.

Is this fully functional by bluetooth on a PC because I have no idea what this means "D-input is defaut mode, X-input mode is available for USB C connection only(2.5M USB C cable included)." from the amazon description. I have too many wires as is and I mainly play star citizen so I need the touch pad to use as mouse scroll, otherwise I will be stuck in the elevators.

D input basically tells the pc it’s an PlayStation controller. X input tells the pc it’s an Xbox controller. And it does work via Bluetooth.

7 months ago I commented on your video that my Rog Ally had gotten wet, today I reconnected it after having forgotten it and what a surprise it turned on again and everything works great, I only have one problem, the touchID power button overheats to a very high temperature, what do you recommend? Do I have to change just that part?

I believe that part can be replaced. Give there replacement part site a visit and see if it’s available. But I would open it up and make sure you have no corrosion build up anywhere.
