At one time Leoung Ting seemed like a very legitimate Kung fu practitioner his stuff seemed very effective back in the days.But i think ego money and fame sent him off the deep edge and it seemed like everything he started doing at a certain point became less effective and more for showmanship.

The video commentary is as hilarious as the technique is flawless. For the non wing chung practitioners: our forms are not proper fighting techniques because in our forms we are training both sides of the body at once. Watching this is comparable to watching Daniel doing Mr. Miyagi's chores no ones going to get hurt but without context it's meaningless. For those comparing this to ballet: that's actually a super accurate comparison. Give me 6 months of training with a professional dancer and they will be a terrifyingly powerful martial artist! A dancers strength, body awareness, choreography and partner training are all transferable. Furthermore; our system was not meant to be the long road to no where that it got turned into.

Alot of shit-talking going on here I see regarding Leung Tings lineage and it's authenticity. Well Ip Man himself simplified the style from an earlier lineage. And Wing Chun itself was simplified from Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu and it's still evolving to this day by students of the Leung Ting and other lineages. It's evolution guys... and I personally welcome it. I myself am student under his lineage which has been modified even further (and for the better in my opinion) but I still rate Leung Ting because he was one man who took the time and effort to explain about the whole system in detailed books and provide a structured system for grading. Something Ip Man, Ip Chun/Ching themselves failed to do before. He's given his knowledge of the system to the world and deserves credit.

His Biu Je seems kinda horrible, especially shifting the weight... Oh well, there are much more advanced and better masters in Wing Tsun these days. From Scandinavian Wing Tsun, Allan Jensen is very talented with the art.

Chueng and ting have forms totally different from ip chun an ip Ching the sons of yip man who should know the style directly from their dad. Why modify it or change the art? Makes no sense if you do that then it no longer original or true wing chun unless your making up your own shit an claiming it's original?
@76kamikazi5 жыл бұрын
ip ching and ip chung was not interested in learning wing chun until bruce lee made famous, and they figured they could make a dollar off their dad name.none of the original wing chun student respected them as been inheritors of the style.
@joedelgado533610 жыл бұрын
Too much mystery behind Leung ting and William Cheung only the old original student of yip man can say for sure. And I believe neither ting or Cheung were direct students of yip man and they only have about 4-5 years total between them so were do they get off saying or claiming titles of grandmaster.
@76kamikazi5 жыл бұрын
Because only dumb Americans believe in that grand master crap in the past no one had those titles only when dumb westerners started falling for the super human kung fu fighter they gave themselves those titles to get your money.And they cant fight worth a darn.
@joedelgado533610 жыл бұрын
I'm curious if you as a teacher that claim to be a student of yip man like Leung ting and William Cheung, then why would you one change the name and the way it's taught?you can't claim it's original or traditional wing chun if you have your own way of doing it!if you modify it then it's no longer wing chun and or you don't really know the true style and are making shit up! Stop your
@nesubitseti11 жыл бұрын
I think people who talk smack on other styles and are currently attending classes are obviously not taught respect. Your masters did a poor job on accepting you as pupils. Remember its not the style its the user who ever you faced is obviously a noob in the art and is probably the only one you faced.

to those who find some part of "biu tze" weird , you must take in mind that this is not the traditional wing chun that sifus like ip man used to learn and teach but it wing tsun (or wing tzun) which is based on wing chun but has some different techniques.

I'm glad to know that you continued with your studies and have gained from them. As you develop in the system you'll make discoveries that will improve it. And you will be able to contribute to the development and refinement of the art. Your practice will lift you above the pull of violence. You'll be able to stand above your aggression and take control of your beast. Something all men aspire to but few achieve. Peace to you and yours.

When I first started WC I was almost talked out of it because a Kempo practitioner friend of mine (who didn't know WC), demonstrated to me how 'weak' the footwork and 'restrictive structure' of WC were compared to the more open movements of Kempo. Fortunately for me, couple of friends (Net/Ted Chan), demonstrated what WC looks like when correctly applied. I got to feel some of the power of their strikes and movements and that was all it took for me to start a 20 relationship with my beloved art.

lol funny how we now think alike. That comment was 3 years ago, and I came to the same line of thought you're explaining now sometime after I had made that comment. In all honesty though, I didn't get that until I had gone to a different Wing Chun school after college.
@bennyacosta156012 жыл бұрын
If you don't think that a WC stance is useful it's only because you haven't grasped it yet, if you even want to. WC structure/footwork/stance are quite robust and will allow one to maintain fighting structure under pressure when properly applied. Those who think WC is restrictive haven't grasped the principles, and rely on empty forms/techniques without understanding the 'why' of it. The forms provide a framework within which one learns to move freely with authority. WC keeps it simple.
