Thank you for posting. I’ve been fascinated with Round Island since l travelled to Mauritius is 2003 and being a herpetologist myself l have searched the internet for possible pictures of the boa with no luck. It’s great to see what it looked like, much bigger and thickly set than l imagined. It’s my dream to visit Round Island one day. Thanks again for the video.

Thank you very much. Thank you Durrell! I must say this work to protect the beauty of our planet earth, known in the variety and wonder of all species and plant life, is a holy task. I wish now with all my heart that all faiths preach the importance of this work to the world's children - I wish that you could set up centres with training in Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Kalimantan etc -- to involve much greater numbers of good people in this vital work. Please spend money on publicity reaching to people who still think we can run the world economy and population increase as we have done for the last 100 years. Thank you for taking positive courageous action against this terrible degradation and disintegration of our planet's ecology and life-structure -- the day has come for all human beings to join this cause. We must fight to give to the future a still-beautiful and livable planet surface.

Congratulations to all who have taken on responsibility for carrying The Ark forward. My association with The Durrells goes back to when my father read one of Gerry's books (it might have been the Bafut Beagles but I was young and it was long ago) Gerry and Jacqui were regular callers at Fieldside when they had business in London. Then there was the summer (late 50s) when my father was doing a summer season in Bournemouth and Gerry had a menagerie in the basement of Beale's Department store. I occasionally baby-sat Cholmondeley. He only bit me once! I was saddened by the divorce and greatly cheered by the joy Gerry found with his new wife; obviously a soul mate. I was also aware of the importance Gerry placed on Publicity. At a time when it is becoming difficult to turn on the television without finding a zoo or a refuge spreading the word of what they are doing, why is The Ark not afloat in these waters? It's work is inspirational and vital to many threatened species. A television series on how, why and where it works would be very different to other zoological problems. It would preach and proselytize. Hopefully it would ignite a fire among all who love Nature. Please, somebody show that The Ark can sail another course. Roger Slater

How encouraging it is to learn of this bold, visionary initiative! In the United States, those of us who invest time, funds, and emotion in environmental causes have been dismayed, frankly, by the recent revival of political philistinism and militant ignorance. Yet the challenge posed by the incoming administration has provoked us to summon an equally militant hope: hope in the nature-conscious younger generation, hope in the slow leaven of ongoing education, and hope in the kind of initiative represented here. Press on, my friends, and always recall that you are not alone in this battle!

Hi Saphira - just stumbled across this video. Very interesting, and informative, and also just answered a question I was about to ask on the St Lucia National Trust Facebook page - I wasn't sure whether the St Lucia Racer was oviparous or viviparous. Seeing those tiny eggs being carefully rescued and stored answers that one! Great video, thanks! xxx
