Plastic wilkinson sword is the same way, my beard grows almost parallel to my skin and that thing cuts some of them lenghtwise no joke. Disposables are quite similar too. I used to cut the safety bar on them before I switched to safety razors

Love the Aylsworth safety razor designs. Glad to now also have the Apex Al taking up market space in the lightweight zone. Would like to see what you come up with in the Focus R28 - Muhle Enthusiast category. Barbers tend to like light handling like the Focus 28 RBSR Replaceable Blade Straight Razor and many hobby shavers prefer heavier scales like the Muhle. The Muhle handles both snapped double edge razors and single while the 28 only runs snaps and uses the spring action from the breaks. Making a straight razor vs the Solingen gang is a different enterprise while entering the RBSR field is a fair opportunity to roll out more awesome design prowess!!

What's up friend! I'm looking for a gentle razor, I have sensitive skin, I use a Rockwell 6c, I can only reach plate 4, this is already aggressive for me. I'm looking for a razor with very good efficiency and little blade exposure. Do you recommend the Kopparkant?

You mention that both the Overlander and Drakkant have a 0.73 mm blade gap and "neutral exposure". This is incorrect. The blade exposure on the Overlander is POSITIVE at 0.07 mm. You say this at 7:23 of the video.

We still work with Yates on our Drakkant 316SS and Ti line of razors, and will continue to work with them for other products as well. For this offering though, we wanted to get the price point to sub $150, and the only way to do that with the quality and tolerances that we demand was to dramatically increase the volume of units, and thereby reduce the cost per unit overall. Ultimately it just wasn't feasible to order the kinds of numbers we were looking at within a reasonable timeframe from Yates, while also relying on them for our Drakkant line of products (not to mention their own 921, Winning, and Merica lines). Basically we have a bunch of products we need to keep on the shelves and it was unrealistic to stick with just one manufacturer for everything. Hopefully that makes sense!

Thanks! Have never used the Pearl, but I would rate the Overlander as efficient as the 5 or 6 on the 6C and as comfortable or moreso. Probably similar to the Yates 921 M plate in efficient but smoother. Cheers!

I have the new Derby Extra blades made after they upgraded their machinery and manufacturing process (or so DERBY claims lol). They are in the blue and white box. WOrk great in my Henson AL13 and Rockwell 6C at the 3 setting. For me these blades are comparable to VOSKHOD (smoothness and mildness) and my replacement for the VOSKHOD which have now increased in price and are not always in stock due to "trade sanction" and/or problems....sigh.

IMO referring to the Merkur et al as being "traditional" is a misnomer. Remember the Gillette old variants, the Techs etc?

Way too soap talk...at least balance the feedback with hardware....I came to you to learn about the Kopperkant+...all I am hearing is soap soap soap...maybe you need to develop soaps instead of razors...I did not stay for the full vid

Yes, that's because these are multi part first impressions, and I always cover the software first then hardware. If you'd stuck around you'd see that I spent the latter part of the video exclusively on the razor.

The 316 stainless and Ti are made in USA. The brass are made in China.

Great shave Kaleb! The base is called the Hathor base. Also, I’m loving the Kopparkant plus almost as much as the Drakkant Ti! Making me want to revisit the Drakkant plus.
