This is a concept that just never, EVER crossed my mind... I just never considered treating a digital layer as a "trace" - utterly genius I'm loving your videos because we're in a similar "era" of architecture, I started on velum and in my 4th year AutoCAD went commercial. I wholeheartedly made the leap, but pretty much left all hand drawing in the dust, 1986-7? Now that I've jumped back into my original interest of architecture (I've been a process engineer managing software development for nearly 30 years now) I'm finding I draw with pencil to get my ideas out of my head, but I really hate paper... I always wished I could rough draw my thoughts and then tidy them up digitally. I have an iPad, but I'd really like a large format version, something like 17-20" where it is still portable, but large enough to get a lot more into view. Anyways, thanks for your instructional vids, they are much welcomed and thoughtful.

.can multiple layers be copied and pasted at the same time?
@iPadForArchitects2 ай бұрын
Yes. After a highlighting, the first layer you want to move or transform, swipe left to right on the other layers you want to include with the action and they will turn light blue indicating that they have been successfully grouped with the other layer. Then you can move or transform them as a group. Although I may have under you misunderstood your question because if you are asking if multiple layers can be pasted into a document from another document at the same time, then they answer is no I am dictating this answer while I ride my bike, so forgive the typos, but thank you so much for your question and please keep your comments and questions coming!

Hi, I’m currently studying interior design and I’m curious to know which iPad you’re using and which one you would recommend for me.
@iPadForArchitects2 ай бұрын
I use a 12.9 inch sixth generation iPad with I think 512 GB of ram. My only recommendation would be to get the largest and most powerful iPad you can afford and if you can afford the top-of-the-line 12.9 inch then definitely go for, as with anything, it isn't the hardware as much as just the practice you put into making beautiful drawings, but I went for the largest because I am used to drawing at a large drawing board and it was just beyond my imagination to use anything smaller than 12.9. I wish you the best of luck and please comment on more videos, thank you!

@iPadForArchitects2 ай бұрын
Too small for me personally but depending on what you’re using the iPad for it will certainly work. I just come from a tradition of having a nice big roll of trace in front of me so I find the 12.9 to be most helpful. But if you’re just taking notes or sketching details it would certainly work well

I've been using Morpholio Trace for my sketches and my biggest (and really only) gripe is the limitation of the number of layers. I work similarly to you, with overlaying new "trace sheets" on my scribbles to evolve the design, and I'm finding I hit the limit too often. The only way I've found to solve this is to combine and/or delete layers, but I would prefer to keep all of them! Maybe I'm a layer-hoarder, but I used to do various iterations in AutoCAD, keeping them all until I ultimately decide which to go with...but even then, I keep the old versions in a separate file! I've had many occasions where I am working through the schematic design and go off on a tangent of "what if I did this...?" and play around with that idea, only to find I've done a similar version previously! 🤣 Does Procreate have a layer number limit? I'm apprehensive to try learning another sketching app, considering Morpholio Trace almost perfectly meets my needs.

For example, how much of a difference does it make the 8gb vs 16gb (256gb-2Tb) versions based on your workflow between small, mid and big scale projects. I'm sure a lot of ppl would find it extremely enlightening. Thank you very much.
