Hi Carol The link for your website listed doesn't work. I was a member of your pd classes years ago and seem to remember you have a new site. You helped me move all my classes, but for the life of me I can't find them. However, this is a new computer, maybe that's it. Please refresh my memory with your new site.

Hi Linda, I closed my new website at the beginning of this year. It was too much work to maintain and I barely covered the cost of running it. I did write to everyone on the website 3 months before it closed so they could download their lessons before it closed. If you would like to discuss this further, please message me via my Facebook page Machine Embroidery and Digitizing. Sorry can't seem to get a link on my phone and can't get to a computer right now. Will try to add a link tomorrow.

Hi Carol is there a book on the V9 software?
@CarolUndyАй бұрын
Hi Joanne, Bernina have free downloadable workbooks on their website. Here is the link to the Australian site. I'm sure the other countries have the same. www.bernina.com/en-AU/Learn-Create-AU/Mastery-Workbooks/Software They are quite basic, but are a good starting point. Of course you have a Reference manual in your software. Just click on the Help menu and then click on Reference Manual to open the PDF manual. There are also all the videos made by Bernina. You can access them from the Home Screen of your software. Watch my video on the Home Screen to see how to do that. Here is a link. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hISrZ6pog912abc Cheers Carol

Hi Anita, I have been offering one on one zoom meetings, but I realise that time zone differences make this difficult for some, so I have just set up a product on my Payhip store so that I can answer questions in writing with pics if appropriate. What is the longest you would recommend for a stitch length for the maximum to be safe. Just learning this but not sure when to stop for it to be done correctly? I hope you understand what I am asking. thank you for all of this information it is really helping me to understand. So much to learn.
@CarolUndyАй бұрын
Very good question Tammy. I like to keep my satin stitches around the 4 to 6 mm length, but it does depend on what the design is going to be sewn on. Satin stitch will pull the fabric in more than step fill, so long satin stitches on a finer fabric would not be a good idea. On a heavier fabric with a good stabiliser you might be able to get away with slightly longer stitches.

Can you add a straight line through any satin stitches that are too wide and then group them and stitch the lines with the same color of clear monofilament thread?
@CarolUndyАй бұрын
See my reply to your previous comment. Also yes, you can stitch over longer satin stitches. You do not need to group the objects. If you want to use monofilament then just make the line a different color so you can stop and change the thread. As with any design check your stitch order and start and end points to reduce unneccessary jumps.

Thanks again for your great tutorials-can you type a word in a fill or just a single letter?
@CarolUndyАй бұрын
Hi Karen, If you have Designer Plus, you can actually stamp in your own pattern of needle penetrations. The tool used is the Carving Stamp. You can read about it in the Reference Manual starting on page 640. I do have two older videos demonstrating this tool. Here are the links. Part 1 kzbin.info/www/bejne/rarUgJZ7nL2ClaM Part 2 kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJmyY5VsiMmpfpo Unfortunately with the Creator level you are limited to the in built fills.

Why did the start and stop points end up in the middle when you created the 1st object ~5:44
@CarolUndy2 ай бұрын
Hi Karen, When you digitize more than one object the software applies closest join by default. That is, it sets the start point of the second object as close as possible to the end point of the previous object. You can change it if you want it somewhere else. You can also turn off that feature, but you will be asked to manually set the start and end points of each object when you press enter to create the stitches. See this video for a fuller explanation. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHnYpKmkp8yJpac Cheers Carol

Thanks again for your great tutorials-is there a way to increase the size of the nodes to make them more visible?
@CarolUndy2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately you can not increase the size of the nodes in embroidery canvas. I sometimes hide the stitches (make sure show outlines is on) so I can see the nodes clearly and know where to look for them when I show the stitches again. Zooming out can help too. as the nodes are not affected by the zoom, they appear larger in relation to the object when zoomed out. Cheers Carol
@KarenQuilts4Fun2 ай бұрын
@@CarolUndy Thanks-i kept zooming in the try to separate them from the stitches..obviously the wrong tactic. Given their target population you’d think they would make them a little larger. They are much easier to see in adobe illustrator and mySewNet/Premeir2+
@CarolUndy2 ай бұрын
@@KarenQuilts4Fun I guess if there were a lot of nodes and they were bigger, it might cause issues too. They could start to overlap. A setting to choose large or small would be good.

Thanks for all of your tutorials..they are awesome. Is there a way to “copy” the properties of 1 object and apply them to another?
@CarolUndy2 ай бұрын
I'm glad you like my videos. Yes you can copy object properties from one object to another. Right click on the object you want to copy from and at the bottom of the pop up you will see the option to copy the properties. You can then right click on the object you want to copy to and click on Apply Object properties. It will not apply the color. If you want to copy the properties to more than one object, you can hold your control key down and select each object you want to copy to. Then right click on one of them and choose Apply Object Properties.

Thank you Carol for explaining the stitch types.That was very helpful. What stitch length do do for a red work design?
@CarolUndy2 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video. For Redwork, I would just use the default stitch length, unless it is a very simple shape with no tight corners, then you could lengthen the stitch slightly. You will probably use the blackwork run tool to eliminate jump stitches. This would stitch over everything twice so would give a bolder look.

Weer een geweldig duidelijke video. Pathing is goed uitgelegd. Als begrijp ik niet goed waarom je dat moet doen. Is dat om de machine sneller te laten lopen of om mooier borduurwerk te krijgen? Mijn machine knipt de draden af die te lang zijn.

Pathing does make the stitch out smoother and faster. The machine does not have to slow down to tie off and trim and then tie in for the next object
