i am strongly considering switching to local LR instead of LRC tbh. The entire UI in Classic is so ridiculously outdated and... inefficient. all the module things and whatnot take up so much space on my screen, it is bloated with so much stuff i have no use for and... i mean just looking at your LR screen and you have filters and whatnot straight on top... in LR every time i want to filter stuff or do anything i need to click pull out menus or submenus and go back and forth and i cant stand it anymore. LR ui is so beautifully clean and efficient. also the more time passes, the less i enjoy catalogs tbh. its like a skin ontop of folders making everything more complex. if i want to quickly go to a folder and copy some photos over... i dont even know where they are because LRC manages the folders on its own. i need to go into LRC for everything. And when lets say your catalog gets corrupted... you are basically f**ed. It just feels like you have no control over your own files and you are depended on LRC for your files. Back in the day i used bridge with my own folder structures. i was easily able to move files around, or edit files directly or backup my entire folder. Everything is just that bit more complicated. want to delete some photos... guess what LRC only throws them out of the catalog and you re left with like thousands of accidental dead files somewhere in random folders instead of just clicking delete... and it actually means delete because its the file itself.

Generative Fill still can't match the pixels and by the time it does if it does we will have to pay more for our subscription mine has just increased. I'm not going to keep paying more each time Adobe makes AI upgrades that aren't fully working it's always in beta. But your tutorial is interesting.

Love your videos. So often you show me how to do something in a smarter way than I have done previously. I have Topaz Studio 2 and it seems that it is a legacy application that Topaz is no longer updating. I am crossing my fingers and hope the application continues to work because I would be sad to see it go away. Happy Creating!

Hi Lori. Not sure if you can answer this here. But why use LR ( Local ) as opposed to LRC.

I switched to LR local in January! I redid my workflow once the editing tools were the same in each program. I have enjoyed it and find it simplistic. I did a video on it if interested. I like working directly with my hard drive.

I’m curious if you have used Camera Raw in photoshop instead of light room. Also before I bring an image into photoshop I used DXO Pure Raw to remove the noise. Have you ever tried that? I love your style and am trying to figure out what aspects of your process line up with my workflow. Thank you.
@lorilankfordphotography
@lorilankfordphotography Ай бұрын
Yes, once I go into Photoshop, I usually use camera raw to make any additional tweaks before taking it back into a Lightroom. However, sometimes I take it back into Lightroom and then realize there’s something else I want to do. I do try to keep my workflow simple and so using camera raw is a great way to do that. I shoot with a pretty high pixel image and don’t typically shoot with high ISO so I don’t have an issue with noise if I do I typically use the denoise in Lightroom or I may use topaz product if I have to.

To keep my presets working with an Apple chip in my iMac I have to open PS with Rosetta. If I use Rosetta to avoid compatibility issues, Remove Tool does not work. My laptop is still Intel so I can use it there. I hear Adobe is working on this, but they have worked on it a long time.
