To me polishing that cymbal changes the tone so much. Its supposed to be very very pingy with very little resonance, and every video ive seen so far polishing it has made it sound quite exactly like a mega bell ride, instead of the traditional dry earth ride sound.

Nice!! I got a new kit just like this back in '84. And I have a similar kit now too as a rehersal kit. Just noticed that you put the tom mount backwards though.... 😏

Found 1 in Australia for $175. Made in Korea & no reverb. Pass! Want to buy 1 for a friend, . I already own a PF 15R myself, I bought while picking up a Roland Cube 30X for my brother, a few years ago. I also own a Vox AC 15R, which I could sell for Good $$$. The PF 15R can closely Replicate the AC 15R with a better speaker.

@@Reverbishment With the amount of drums i refurbish this seems like an awesome investment! I actually have a Harbor Freight near me. You use it on all metal parts on your drums? Also how long does it take once you've put parts in?

Is he using car wax, I once read that in modern drummer, If I'm not mistaken,because I do the same with polish on cymbals. The hand drill also works.. Now what dimensions is the snare, is it like the steel Tama Rockstar dx? I almost gave away a Tama Rockstar dx, it had a good sound!
@ReverbishmentАй бұрын
@@Warpigletsofpower oh yeah 😎 car polish works great! & The snare is 14x6! And yes it’s steel! Stay tuned I have a give away for that exact snare drum in the works 🎉🥁

Congratulations. You just devalued a vintage zildjian cymbal. 😂😂😂😂They didn't even come out of the factory that shiny. Absolutely sacrilegious. 😂😂😂😂

@@octavius428ball Hey I appreciate the concern! There are two different styles of Earth Ride though! I detailed and compared the differences during this video :) this one is the “brilliant finish” which absolutely came out this shiny from the factory. There are lots of others out there to check out online. Especially images of them “new”. Go have a look and come back! Thanks for the feedback!

The worst thing about Zildjian is their inconsistency, I had a 22in Earth Ride a few years ago but it had way too much ring and since I only play in my garage it was too over powering. I traded it and kinda regretted it, recently I saw a demo of a 20in Earth Ride and realized that might be better because it didn't seem to have a ton of overtones. I found one on the Guitar Center website for $124 and bought it, when I picked it up out of the box I noticed it was kinda light 🤔. I put it on the kit and noticed it didn't really have that Earth Ride ping but it was still good enough to keep, I remembered I had a scale so i measure it and it came in at 3450 grams, I saw a few other demos where theirs weighed in in the 3700's grams and they had that ping i was hoping for. At that point I was reminded of the Rock Ride i had gotten that sounded nothing like my coworkers rock ride which had a really nice ping to it.
@Reverbishment2 ай бұрын
Man that is frustrating lol. Weight plays such a crucial role in cymbal tone, especially with rides. 3450 grams for a 20" Earth Ride is definitely on the lighter side, which explains the lack of that ‘ping.' The heavier models, especially in the 3700-3800 gram range, tend to give more of that sharp, cutting sound with less wash. Any time i’m cymbal shopping I go in like Sauron looking for the one ring to rule them all lol. Especially when i’m digging on the sound from a video. In person it’s always such a different ball game! What are you rocking now?
@1thess5232 ай бұрын
@@Reverbishment i still have my tried and true 22in Paiste 3000 Rude Power Ride, I recorded some gopro and phone drum covers and that 20in Earth Ride still cuts through but I still would habe liked a heavier one so it wasn't a loss really.

Absolutely! To start I used a degreaser to break down the grime (I usually use a combination of vinegar and dawn dish soap), then I used a brass cleaner for tarnish, & finally a car polish and shine for buffing. I posted a new video today restoring a Zildjian ride cymbal with a new cymbal polish! Check it out and let me know what you think :)
