Thank you SO much for uploading this whole series (though it seems some episodes are missing)! If you ever get ahold of Mega Movie Magic, the Discovery Kids version, I would be overjoyed since that's the version that got me into doing VFX and film making.

@@OakViewFilms well, sure, I think I can share it with you? We have been waiting to update our IWS REEL with some fresh new material to showcase for awhile now. Right now we are in the middle of several projects, one is designing, scratch building, and kitbashing a Space Freighter for building a 6'×2'×1' Model Miniature to film for a Proof of Concept 1 hour Pilot for a television series. And that's just one project job.

In 1992 I started to work for the first commercial television in Italy. For two years produced a lot 3d work with A2000 PP&S 68040 28Mhz with 32megs Ram, controller custom serial for Betacam SP and some Graphics card as the impact, Egs 110 and Colormaster 24bit that was perfecto to load on BetaSP step by step with a RGB->Component converter. I was using Image then Lightwave, Adpro. Then we switched to Intergraph, Softimage 3.51 then Houdini.
@MrJorgalanАй бұрын
@RenatoT66 Indeed, here in Europe, the Video Toaster didn’t work because it only supported NTSC natively. What was done was to send the video frame by frame to a Betacam video recorder controlled by a serial port, and the use of 24-bit video cards for good image quality. 32 MB of RAM in 1992 was a lot, making it quite an expensive setup.

It always felt that inserting a cut into that long tracking shot wasn't very smart. It lessens the impact.

Alien 3 kind of shits all over Aliens. They kill all the survivors right at the start, then kill the hero and in the most ugly, inhospitable place ever, with the ugliest vfx possible and most boring setting of all the franchise.

I respect these guys' work, but Alien 3 didn't age well. The effects look very fake. It's time it gets remastered.

@@VFXGeek if someone says "memory" that's generally accepted to be referring to the RAM, not hard drives. In 1993 PCs tended to have more like 4MB of RAM. 5GB is over 1,000 times as much.
