Reliability was fine on my V6S ..what I didn’t like was the build quality which was poor things like the carpet not fitting properly (gaps around the centre tunnel where the carpet was too short) and various squeaks and rattles..but what really pi**ed me off was the low level of service and knowledge by the local (Nottingham) Jaguar dealership ..absolutely appalling..didn’t know their own products and had no idea what they were doing..had full blown arguments with the service guys and even got Jaguar U.K. involved were helpful but didn’t change the attitude of the dealership.

I've only had my 2016 V6S (metallic gray Coupe with 17000m on the clock) for a few months. I use it as a weekend car and knowing the weak points, I will shortly be replacing all the plastic coolant pipes with aluminum, as well as installing an oil catch can. I never drive it in the rain to avoid water finding its way to the injectors and when I wash it, I block the bonnet vents. So far no problems.

About four months ago I bought a mint 2016 V8 AWD F Type with just under 10k miles. The satnav antennae had to be replaced at a cot of 300 pounds, and just of late the central vent has started to play up, not knowing if it should be up or down. My battery is a bit low as I rarely use it, I'm wondering if that's caused the issue. It's my first Jag having been used to AMGs and M series cars. My thoughts to date on the car is that it is the most gorgeous piece of artwork on four wheels, the interior quality especially the leather is as good as if not better than my previous cars. I specifically like the large simple tonka toy like temperature dials. So far I'm thrilled with it.

Owners seem to keep these cars for a long time as they satisfy certain cravings nicely 😋 Nice to see you YouTubing again MrGB, here's to 2025

97 k miles, 2015 v6 coupe, driven hard every day and a canyon carver on the weekend. Only issue was the small leak on the coolant y pipe which I had redone in aluminum. No issues outside of that. Mine has never left me stranded and I drive ALOT!!! Underrated cars when cared for.

By now I've put 170k kms on my V6 over almost 8 years. Have I seen some issues? Yes, a few. Except for one leaking injector that did kill a catalysator, too, it's basically wear and tear. There are plenty of other YT channels here that make me believe that compared to some other oh so reliable brands (Mercedes comes to mind) that is an outstanding performance. I think these beasts are pretty darn reliable. And if you think you can drive a performance car on the bill for a Dacia then you started with the wrong assumption anyway.

Worst car we ever owned. Problems after problems. Car had a FMDSH with low miles so it can’t be blamed on bad maintenance. Kept it 14 months and after 7k of costs purely for things going wrong enough was enough. Wouldn’t touch another Jaguar with a barge pole especially now they have destroyed their image with their ridiculous new marketing campaign. No thanks JLR

@@Astutemoose2015 Maybe ours was a Friday afternoon car but I guess sometimes it’s the luck of the draw. Unfortunately once you fall out of love with a car no matter how stunning or gorgeous sounding you only see the problems it has given and potentially will do. Whoever bought our F Type hopefully has been able to enjoy it as we had all work needed to make it 💯 just our trust in it had gone.

To me FMDSH doesn't necessarily mean anything. There are lots of accounts out there showing that a lot of these Jag "techs" haven't a clue what they are doing. Half those guys don't even know how to not over fill the engine oil on these things, so as far I'm concerned you can extrapolate from there.
@kingmc115Күн бұрын
Have had mine for 4 years now. 2015 V6S with 110k miles on it now. A HUGE list of issues... I'll blame it on high mileage and unknown previous owner's maintenance. All of these things had to be replaced: - Alternator + battery - LSD Differential replaced - Cracked Y pipes - Head Gaskets (biggest expense..) - Coolant tank and random hoses - Audio Amplifier - Cracked Aux Radiator - Leather headliner and a couple other fixes here and there. No warranty, but majority of the parts were found used and installed by a friend mechanic. All for the love of this car.. but it does hurt

Thanks for the insight. That’s quite the list! Especially the head gaskets!

I have a 2016 S that's needed a new washer bottle, the old one just split, a front left headlight because the last one cracked for no reason (as they do on F-Types), and it might need a new gas tank, the petrol gauge is stuck. I'm hoping the float is just stuck and at some point it unsticks itself. On a nine year old car I can't really complain given the amount of joy the thing gives me to drive and even just to look at. The biggest problem with these things is the extortionate prices Jaguar demand for new parts. But if you go with used parts, they're affordable. Put it this way, whatever the supposed reliability issues with these cars, now I have one, I will never not own one because they are just so awesome!
@MrGB_UKКүн бұрын
That’s a good summary! I love mine!
@dlj128512 сағат бұрын
If you had parts to buy for a Porsche or Mercedes you would have the exact same price complaints. They are all the same in this regard. It's not a cheap ford.

My first F-Type (2013 V6S) was disastrous. Sold it after 3 years as was sick of the constant problems and bills. Spent more on that car than any of my previous 20+ car added together. List of problems as long as my arm. Jaguar did supersede and upgrade many of the parts between 2013 and 2017. With all that said, I couldn't stay away and now in a 2021 P450 which has been fantastic, but it is much newer and lower mileage. Time will tell, but so far so good! Warranty is an absolute must on these. Would never run a JLR product as a daily, stick to German. Totally different prospect doing 12k miles per year vs 3k.

It’s such a shame that Jaguar allowed the F type to get a reputation for unreliability. Especially when it came down to just a few fixable issues. 1/ a simple redesign of the engine cover would have solved the water ingress on RWD cars that corroded in the injectors. Most owners just modify the cover as a simple fix. 2/ Reverting to aluminium coolant pipes would have solved the problem of the Y pipe. The plastic pipes just saved them a few quid per car, yet further damaged the car’s reputation. If these items had been dealt with the F type could have been one of the most robust sports cars on sale.

You were one of the reasons I bought an F-Type. Almost two years later and I've done close to 10,000 miles in it. So far the only issues have been, as mentioned, the exhaust valve getting stuck, the SOS system battery dying, and the DRL light dimming. All of these were handled under the generous F-Type 5 year warranty, so it's been $0 out of pocket for me. Outside of that, it's been an absolute dream of a car. Nothing else quite like it, and with how rare they are, people treat them with the same excitement as many higher end exotics.

Their installation instruction video is excellent.

I purchased a 2019 F-Pace last year. Slowly over time, the key fob has stopped working to unlock and lock the car. I can only do this on the door handle now. I’ve tried new battery (several times), but no change. I’m afraid at some point, I won’t be able to unlock/lock the doors anymore, or not be able to start car, like the fob is slowly “dying”. Any thoughts, without having to spend $1000 on new fob…

Have 2018 model 25T petrol purchased August 2017. Just went over 100,000 miles in USA. Emergency key cover on the driver's door handle fell off in a spray car wash after an ice strorm. Coolant got low once, but problem went away. Those are the only problems I've had. I only do the recommended service with oil change once a year. Replaced both batteries at 4 years. This 2024 year I spent thousands of dollars to replace the timing chains because I was scared that they would eventually break, even though there was nothing wrong with them. I'm about due for an alignment and new brake pads after 100,000 miles. Might look into replacing some of the rubber and plastic parts as preventive measures. Should also add more ceramic coating, as that is now 6 years old. Why keep investing in this car? Because it's so nice to drive, is the right size and weight (light) for my needs, and it's a beautiful British Racing Green 💚 color. Too bad that color is no longer offered by Jaguar.
