I have a 2014 F-Type V8s, with Velocity AP Stage 2 tune. I was initially concerned about reliability but after 3 years, I’ve really only had one issue: a failed Bosch oxygen sensor. Bosch had a bad run of these and extended the warranty to 10 years, and JLR replaced it for free. The same issue affected Porsche, Mercedes, BMW. Unless you’re really abusive with the car you can expect a reasonable level of reliability as you would with any mass-market brand. BTW I put the car on charge regularly and I recommend a trickle charger be used as often as possible.

Question is what do you mean by reliable? Mine never broke down or left me stranded, but in the 3 years it cost me more to maintain and repair than any of my previous 25 or so cars. So many well known quality issues. Loved it, but was a ticking time bomb. Mine was an early V6S and many parts were superseded over the years so later cars are surely more reliable. Keep looking at buying another, but just can't bring myself to do it. In 3 years, I had two O2 sensors fail, new supercharger (under warranty) new water pump, replaced all the coolant pipes due to leaks, new rear subframe bushes, rear chassis braces powder coated plus a few other things. I do miss the character and sound, but not the running costs.

They are good in terms of reliability (relative terms) and the latest iterations of the cars are considered to be even more reliable with some updated parts. Unfortunately it doesn’t matter how many videos like this, or how much real world experience with them is conveyed, slagging Jag reliability is a favourite pass time for the Internet bandwagoners. I know people that own them and they feel they are quite reliable. Are they Toyota reliable? Of course not, but pretty darn good for what they are. People buying this sort of car are not necessarily looking for supreme reliability anyway depending in what their goals are, how much the other aspects of the car ring their bell, etc…For some, reasonable reliability can be enough (as long as it’s not absolutely horrid).

i was very close to getting a 2015 one but ended up getting an 2016 a45. like you say, i was scared off with all the forums saying the supercharger and injectors go early on them regularly, and they handle like a boat in corners being so heavy. before the merc i had a turbo'd gt86 which was very fun being so light. found out the guy that bought it off me bent a rod 3 months later and it needed a another engine dropping in at 6 grand...guess i dodged a bullet there but shows what can happen modifying a car so heavy

🤣🤣 use your logic man..does jaquar make their own injectors? Nope they use the same as all..no seized engines or gearbox is a good buy..not the same with BMW s55 and V8..those V8 have seized engines all over the place

So, the more you make the exhaust to make these “weird” noises, the more chances you have to damage the catalytic converter?

I liked your statement that it has been driven in the spirit it was designed for... I always drove mine like that, but with respect. Enjoyed but never thrashed it.

Recently just sold my f type R 2014 with 35k miles.. had fuel injector problems (being seized and 1 actually stuck that they had to lift up the engine etc) after being told by the jag Specialist that you have to pay to fix the problem as Jaguar can’t do it themselves (makes no sense) that these could all seize up again. This put me off for future ownership, worrying when it could go again or the other bank of 4! For such a low milage car with all the correct servicing being done and having a possible cost of £12k to replace the cylinder head itself it wasn’t worth it personally. I love the f type R.. and maybe will be a newer mode in the future.

It's the air bends above the engine in early models..rain fell in injectors and corrosion seized them..later models had them lower

The engine map with cracles and bangs that do the catalyst issues..it dumps fuel to do the bangs..retarded idea..1800 uk pounds? With that you can be stage 2.5 with sport catalyst too..rip off

Jesus christ, I do like your videos but for the love of god normalise the sound - your intro and outro volume is WAY above the main content. Lovely car btw.
