PLEASE SHOW US HOW YOU WEDGED THAT LITTLE BALL OF CLAY!!❤
@BeardedPottery
@BeardedPottery 3 күн бұрын
I don’t do much to it, just kinda smash it into a ball. It’s probably not true wedging, but when I put it on the wheel I typically cone it up twice which does the real “wedging” and gets rid of the air bubbles.

I’ve been looking for art fairs to hopefully do this/next year. Low n behold I’m in GWS this is really helpful! Their website is outdated do you know when to apply? (So true Memorial Day and Mother’s Day I feel always rains everywhere 😂 )

Great video! I’m trying scale down shows, do more quality juried shows, and add some fun Sip & Shops during the week. I’m ordering a whiteboard! Great idea! All good advice

I like your approach for 2025. Definitely the journal thing and trying to plan my week. As a creative, it is super easy to just wing it and not have a plan or be organized. I will try the journal thing!

I will continue to journal every day and track my kiln loads, adding tracking of types of pieces each load. Last year I know I fired 67 loads, 42 which were glazed at about 36 pieces a load. Hope to hit the 1200 piece mark again this year.

how much would it have been to overnight those? this is craaaaazy but at least you had a fun adventure lol. i hope the pay was worth it!! and i'd love to see more videos regarding the business side of things like how to start and tips for growing, etc. i found your channel bc of your market stand video and it is by FARRR the most informative pottery business video I've found on youtube. i'd watch anything like that.
@BeardedPottery
@BeardedPottery Ай бұрын
Good to know. And yes it was worth it. I can’t imagine. Overnight would have been several hundred dollars, but even then I worry about them getting broken. I charge $2/mug for shipping and that usually covers everything. And it covered my expenses to get there in a car and fly back. So to me i would rather just drive em. Glad to know the video helped!

Still watching...but my thoughts..you can do it!!!! I think you should have gotten us other potters in this and we could have done like a pony express or like how back in the olden days to get the medicine to the the sick...we do stops and each person keeps taking them and they make it safely to Texas! My 2nd thought is....they should have asked you earlier 😅
@BeardedPottery
@BeardedPottery Ай бұрын
Haha they did ask earlier. But a few things came up that just messed up my timing. It was mostly my fault. A big part was getting really sick. So I thought it would be fun to make the video of the last minute rush

You’ve shared a lot of great insights. For functional art and ephemeral work it might be good for sales. However, these things haven’t worked for me in terms of sales but I really wish I sold at local pop ups and you’re tempting me to try again. That is saying a lot because I’m almost 54, lifelong artist (corporate/govt type until 2010) and now have a local studio in the city where I live. I actually did a weekend festival and didn’t have any sales. Maybe I’ll revisit some pop up shows with a more restricted collection of work.
