Best Scottish band I can think of... Wierd but certainly best live band Scotland has ever produced 👌🏴✌️

Lordy, Scottish rock was in bad shape in 1975, obviously not including AWB

So happy to find this - saw them at the Proms back in (I think) 86 or thereabouts. And twice on their reunion tour few years back - Cheltenham and Brecon. And I was at school with Steve Day (trombone), who put me onto the band before they became a thing. Nice guy.

No one in Italy know SAHB, i discover they casually. They were really sensational, and deserved more fortune and consideration. I would like to know more things about theyr carreer

I saw SAHB backing Mott The Hoople. At that time I had not heard of them. Have to say they took the show for me even though Mott were great.

The Sight and Sound series was great back when the BBC made decent shows. Well done for uploading this and the best quality I've seen of this concert. Rory was always better as a 3 piece though imo.

I've already got the stereo radio broadcast on BBC FM Radio in good quality. They couldn't record a picture like this and stereo sound all on to one tape at the time. So the stereo sound had to be recorded on audio tape only. The BBC still have all episodes and all stereo tapes for the episodes, but they can't be bothered to sync the two up and broadcast them in stereo nowadays. So they always show them in mono now. Only Queen's NYE simulcast concert gets broadcast in stereo still. I think this might have something to do with the band themselves. A Flock Of Seagulls from 1983 was once broadcast in stereo around 10 years ago which I still have. I personally have synced the 1000th episode of Top Of The Pops in May 1983. This was a one-off stereo simulcast with BBC FM Radio 1 or 2. That came out well. I also synced The "BBC Sight & Sound: In Concert" (same show as this) featuring Nena which is from 1984. This came out extremely well. It's like my stereo audio file had been improved to sound more like a concert by the software. This will be my next job. It's just keeping it in sync that can be difficult, but I've got round that now.

Brilliant show. Dan McCafferty's patter is magic, it was nice to see Blue and Rab Noakes again but in the end Alex totally stole the show. It's just a pity that Gerry Rafferty didn't also feature.

It was a truly wonderful concert; Joni had the audience completely under her spell. Such quality, such boldness and authority. A night to remember. As I recall, the BBC recorded the concert and broadcast it on television and, in stereo, on the radio simultaneously. Perhaps they still have the tape…This is a genuine piece of history of an artist at the top of her game; thank you for sharing it.

God I wish more concerts were this moving nowadays. Ending with Woodstock was genius, I loved how she slowly faded herself out and vamped the chords while the credits rolled, so eerie and heartbreaking.

Great episode. Seeing SAHB and Naz made me think of all the amazing vocalists Scotland has produced, i.e. Bon Scott, Dan McCafferty, Alex Harvey, James Dewar (Robin Trower, Stone The Crows), Davey Pattison (Gamma, Robin Trower), Brian Connolly (Sweet), Frankie Miller, Kal Swan (Tytan, Lion), Alex Ligertwood (Santana), Maggie Bell, a.o.

A tragically rare testament to the live power of Scotland's greatest rock band and the charisma of their leader. This was the OGWT that made me an instant fan. Everyone was talking about it the next day at school - well, all the cool kids anyway

Just curious what the date in 1983 if you recall? I attended a Crosby Stills and Nash concert at Wembley Arena in July 1983. I live in Chicago but accompanied a friend to London and the CS&N concert as part of a contest he had won. We watched the concert sitting on the stage and also got to go backstage.

@@bradsense7431 Just dug out the ticket stub, it was April 23rd 1983. Row M seat 59. Must confess I was a bit disappointed Jaco was not playing.

@@fenixfp40 thanks for the response and digging out the old stub. I have all mine stuffed in envelopes ha ha. True no Jaco(RIP) but the bass player here Larry Klein very good. I think he and Joni were married at this time. Were you aware prior to attending this concert that it was being filmed for broadcast? That would be cool to experience it live and then relive it later when broadcast or here on You Tube.

They were amazing - saw them a couple of times, Sheffield and possibly Manchester, at about this time and have their albums on vinyl. Shame there is so little online - this really captures the atmosphere, personalities and excellent playing. Follow some of them as individual musicians to this day.
