Profound admiration for this band of composers. Deserved then and deserve now more recognition of their greatness.

So happy to find this - saw them at the Proms back in (I think) 86 or thereabouts. And twice on their reunion tour few years back - Cheltenham and Brecon. And I was at school with Steve Day (trombone), who put me onto the band before they became a thing. Nice guy.

They were amazing - saw them a couple of times, Sheffield and possibly Manchester, at about this time and have their albums on vinyl. Shame there is so little online - this really captures the atmosphere, personalities and excellent playing. Follow some of them as individual musicians to this day.

It's nice to have this footage up here for people to see as there's so little of the band at its peak. This is a particularly great and vibey gig with pretty much the original line-up, such happy memories!

I beg that it doesn't get taken down by the tubular powers that be !

This is one of my favourite Loose Tubes pieces. Life affirming music and so joyous

someone gave me a cassette of this in the 80s, maybe a bootleg, I lost it ages ago, so glad to have found a decent recording

I had the great good fortune to see them a couple of times, in Newcastle and in Leicester. Absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing this footage. By coincidence, I'm going to see a rather similar band this evening - Vienna Composers Big Band . . .
