Playing defensive in Tekken 8 is just suicide. Heat Crushes, Heat Activation, Power Crushes, Rage Arts, Heat Smashes [1 button Rage Drives]. Tekken 8 is designed exclusively for people who hate Tekken or don't wanna put in the effort to learn Tekken. Alot of the legacy issues the franchise has is still not fixed in 8. Instead they add more bullshit, & flanderize tons of characters' movesets, that's it. It's just Tekken 7 with Season 3's garbage design philosophy cranked up to 100. I still cannot for the life of me, fucking believe that people genuinely call this game amazing let alone good. Can't wait for Tekken 9 to play like all these basic ass Anime license games of the 2010s where it's just 1 button attacks and 1 button cutscene supers and that's it.

this is a lot of facts; I love "Non" Traditional Fighting Game communities like modded Platformers (PM HDR), balanced Arena fighters (Storm Tenkaichi), 3.5D games (Budokai Clash), etc. cuz even when meeting moreso closed minded people they're more receptive to criticsm and able to grow bcuz these communities know that we're already small af and gotta help each other thrive which is nice. All those games I just mentioned and others in "Non" Traditional Fighters also have more intutive and accessible controls and mechanics, without losing any depth and intricacy, so even the philosophies that go behind them and their communities are moreso challenging the normative societal perspectives of the FGC at a root lv

Ur wright I feel like video games have been going downhill since street fighter third strike and Mortal Kombat 4 because every since then, all of these fighting game manufacturers, keep trying to make fighting games for the people who complain about fighting games or don’t play fighting games so now they have all these unplayed, garbage, ass releases, and garbage ass versions of characters when really, they should be catering to the crowd they already have Modern controls are cool and all, but give the guy who learned how to play on the original controls some type of reward. And then the characters are extremely unbalanced. If your name is sonic, anything all you do is counter pick people you counter picking Cowartsssss and some of you are working with the manufactures of these games to make your character even better I don’t care what anybody say Mortal Kombat, Ant streetfighter rigged the game for their top players because if you pay attention, whoever sonic fox plays with or ninja killer, for example their character always gets buffs no nerves and they don’t correct the DI of the player so you’re just able to fire off combos with that and then these fuckers have never even won a raffle in their life so they just run with it and expect everybody to play the game with the same character. Mortal Kombat is now Lou Kane versus Lou Kane. Ant streetfighter has become just the jury show and I hate white and Japanese gay manufacturers for the way they present new characters like JP. He’s just fucking gay Zoner and on top of that his moves don’t look realistic or manly and you guys know most of this is coming from the LGTBQ game developers. They keep dressing our favorite characters in cute ass outfits with different colors because they’re gay and they like all the colors don’t realize they straight men we use colors for war. There are no more war colors in fighting games. They took the whole ambience and changed it and expect the original players to stay all because this shit really doesn’t attract in new players in the tracks in the players that failed at playing so they come in to all these upgrades they’ve been crying about and only played the game for two months then the guys who love the genre are stuck with the stupid ass upgrades that make no sense and the main characters that have been here in the series from the beginning always get NERFED so you can only play with the DLC characters. People might completely disagree with me. That's fine, but one of the reasons why I think competitive games in general are less interesting now than they were when they were in their infancy, is because people are far more soft. One of the reasons why competitive games in general were fun in the first place, was because it allowed people to really Express themselves, have egos, be provocative, have a lot of bravado, and talk a lot of crap while there was very low stakes. At the end of the day, it was just video games, it was just jokes. What that did was create a community that had pretty thick skin, and allowed people to be fully expressive. The real world isn't a nice place, and you're going to run into people who are going to say really mean and rough stuff, but instead of having the risk of losing your job, or losing important friendships, the results of being mean or talking trash in video games is far less severe. The culture what is the attractive part. It was because it was toxic, that's why it was so fun. Because it was a place for people to be that way and not have too many harsh consequences. That's also what made the internet fun in the first place too. But when everything has to be very PC and inclusive, you lose the culture of being thick skinned, and able to handle difficult moments in situations. Which ironically, makes you less mature than the people who were trash-talking in The First place. The culture in competitive gaming was all about talking trash, and either someone beating you and forcing you to shut up, talking trash back, or you beating them and able to continue talking trash. and some people just couldn't handle that, so the feature to mute people or block people would be something they would have to employ. Which is fine, but that doesn't mean the entire culture has to change because they can't trash talk back, or get good to shut people up. Now I feel like we have a culture full of babies. Instead of trash talking openly, they just start drama on other social media platforms. Which I think makes the entirety of the community worse not better. It's also less entertaining to watch, because there's no longer grudge matches, just a lot of passive aggressive back and forth. But that's my take anyway, I'm from an age of being online where people would talk major trash and that just be a part of how it was.

I feel like a fucking moron for trusting Tekken 8. I gave it a pure honest chance and had my faith in it. But 3 months later and I gotta say, that Tekken 8 dropping the ball so fucking hard over these last few recent updates is THE understatement of 2024.The way they forced in MTX a month after launch, after all the glazing this game has been getting. The EXTREME incompetence of punishing rage quitters, something fighting games have gotten right for decades, but Namco somehow chose to not try at all, forcing use to use fucking twitter to report rage quitters. Horribly balanced character roster that made me completely reconsider defending the Heat mechanic because of how it's handled. And of course rollback as shitty as ever, it rivals SF5. Malicious & incompetent devs being tone-deaf on fixing their dogwater game. & Now they fucked up EDDY GORDO. I never play him, and I am pissed at how they ruined him, and I'm not talking about his ugly ass ESG hairstyle. His moveset has been dumbed down so fucking hard, it's indescribable. One of his juggles is literally just one goddamn button over and over for 66 damage. This is the MK1 situation all over again. At least I bought the game second handed instead of giving these fraudulent devs my money, but that's the only postitive out of this whole situation for me. Tekken 8 is a game that I truly wanted to love, in which, I thought that Namco knocked it out of the ballpark, but I've been burned yet fucking again. I cannot for the life of me do this anymore. These new AAA fighting games are just plain, garbage. I'm thinking about sticking to old school at this point.

One time i joined a smash ultimate tournament, and almost nobody talked to me. But when i came on stream and had one of my best performances, people started talking to me. It's awful how people just keep sucking off the best players while being hostile to the people who aren't known. They aren't here to share memories, they aren't here to have a good time and improve. they're here to see who's the best. Yes, that's the point of a tournament, but there wasn't just a tournament, there was freeplay. Oh and btw, there was a melee side event, and the people there were actually chill and fun to talk with. To me, the experience will vary depending on the location and the game. The Ultimate and Street Fighter 6 community where i live disappointed me. I don't know about other games.

Difference of difficulty should be a given pov the longer u been playing a product, but some games aren't that cut and dry nowadays. ~One's opinion is both an FGC thing & a people-person thing. Ever notice how the only people who say the fighting game community is "positive" or "inclusive" are the ones deeply entrenched in it? Weren't there like 6 cases of SA at an EVO a few years back? Add that to all the rage mail you get from freaks who their only social interaction is probably sending angry messages to people they lose against, and I'm seriously doubting that they are an upstanding community lol. But hey, think of it as containment; these goofballs are posted up in their rooms bashing on controllers swearing about plus frames and aren't going to interract with you in the real world.

Making easy fg's is not only unpleasant to hard-core fans of the genre but also factually bad business. When you have to invest time to get good in a game sunken cost fallacy makes you more likely to keep spending time and MONEY. All the design decisions that are trying to cater to new folks are exactly why they won't stick around. When the game is easy to learn it is also easy to drop.

Bro I mean, just dont play modern FGs. People still play 3S competitively, Super turbo, Ultra 4, etc. I would recommend KOF15 honestly if you want something that is difficult to learn/master in the modern age.
